The hotel looks amazing from the outside with a unique design. We were lucky to get a room upgrade, and we absolutely loved the room. It was very spacious, beautiful, and comfortable. Plus, it was the only hotel on our UK trip with AC, which made a big difference! We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay in York.

This was the 4th hotel in York I'd tried over a few months. Overall I felt the most comfortable and considered it best value. The classic appeal and atmosphere was very enjoyable. Being adjacent to the railway station was a massive advantage with access slmost off the platform.

An excellent experience. Stayed on a Sunday night and the hotel was fairly quiet so was upgraded to a suite which was fabulous. My daughter is at York University so we have been frequent visitors and generally stay here. It felt therefore like a reward for our frequent visits which made me feel like a valued guest!

No porter service or ramp to get your case up the first 10 steps to reception. Internal lift not working all weekend. Room key stopped working so down and back up the steps you go again - no apology. Room not serviced despite being out between the hours of 10am and 4pm. Couldn’t get a drink in the Garden Room - told by reception they were too short staffed! View from the room should have been to the city and the Minster but heavy scaffolding ruined this. Beautiful building and interior ruined by terrible service. Staff will walk past you lugging your bags up and down the stairs and not even look you in the eye or greet you, let alone offer to help. There are other hotels near the station which I will try next time.

Perfectly located right by the train station for rail links and also a very short walk into the beautiful city centre. The hotel is stunning inside and out. Our room was clean but sadly the air con had a mind of its own and would almost “flush” every hour, which woke me every hour in the night, that combined with the vibration of the fridge in the wardrobe, it wasn’t the best nights sleep. Breakfast was delicious and fresh.

We had the Accessibility Rooms and it was a sad sight to see. The ADA rooms were in the basement and given the bathroom restraints there was a wet/mildew smell throughout not just our rooms but the whole level since there is not a lot ventilation. It made the room experience terrible. That said the rest of the common areas were well kept and represented the luxury experience that was expected along with the attitude and service of the staff.

The room was comfortable and clean, great blackout curtains and comfortable bed and pillows. Good selection of teas and coffee in the room and iron and hair dryer. Only snag was the windows are old and banged a little in the wind, and also let noise in from the pubs next to train station- but it’s typical for old buildings. It didn’t disturb us in the morning. I would say if you need to use the lift, there is one lift at the moment and it’s used by staff and guests which is inconvenient. Otherwise it’s a beautiful hotel and has lovely grounds with a fountain and a nice seating area and garden. Parking is tricky and very expensive

Be mindful when booking one of the annex rooms. They are really not very nice and miles from the main hotel with failing lifts and narrow stairways. The night staff were helpful but the room and awful outlook wasn’t something they could resolve. Not helped by an extremely loud party and mention of same again the following night. I absolutely wouldn’t book again.

This is a classic Poirot era hotel immediately adjacent to the York railroad station. Our room was quite small but well appointed. In retrospect, I think we would have been well advised to choose a larger (i.e.; much more expensive) room. There is (was?) ongoing road construction occurring right outside the hotel which went on until nearly midnight making sleep a questionable proposition. Our room was among those closest to the site of this work. Why weren't given a room farther from this I'm not sure. The HVAC in our room was new and modern with indecipherable operating instructions. It was a chilly day when we arrived and the A/C was doing its best to make it even cooler. Finally, someone came up to switch it to heat. The next morning, it had switched back to A/C! We had dinner and breakfast at Peachy's. Both were quite good. Especially at dinner, the service was exceptional. We enjoyed our stay at The Milner and, in spite of our complaints, would stay there again

The hotel is beautiful, and the communal areas are luxurious. Breakfast was delicious and a great selection. Comfy bed and nice spacious shower. My only disappointment was the room I was allocated compared to other rooms of similar prices I saw. I was in room 227, end of a corridor, it was small, no easy chair in the room so had to sit on the bed to watch TV. Having the fridge, safe and tea / coffee tray all stored in the wardrobe was odd, but then the room wasn't large enough to have them anywhere else I was there for a wedding weekend therefore did not feel comfortable comparing my room to other people's but after the event felt quite put out for what I paid. 🙁 It wouldn't stop me from staying again however I would be mindful of what kind of a room I was paying for.

Hi, Beautiful old property, lovely bathroom, beds need to be updated, air conditioning lacking and it’s was 38 degrees when we were there. The buffet was very good and replenished frequently. Would stay again.

The location of the hotel was perfect as it was very close to York Station and very accessible when moving suitcases. There was a nice breakfast in the morning at the hotel. The staff were very helpful and took suitcases to be stored while tourists walked around York.
