No leisure/spa facilities and still waiting refund as agreed

Hotel was clean, tidy and staff very happyful

The room was lovely, the lack of storage drawers for clothes was a little disappointing. We returned to this hotel which was originally the Royal York. We had our honeymoon here, and returned 29 years later for our anniversary. This was a special anniversary for reasons I won’t share. When I booked I was not told that the pool was ‘out of service’ we were looking forward to swimming daily. For the cost we paid I feel that we should have been compensated. We had room service breakfast on our special day. It too was disappointing, tinned sloppy gratefruit, muesli which was Kellogg Clusters x We went out after breakfast and had to ring down to ask for the breakfast things to be removed from our room at 3pm ish. Our room was cleaned once during our stay of 4 nights. York is beautiful and so is the hotel but seems like more of a business hotel. Out tv didn’t work correctly, apparently a smart tv but Netflix buffered every 10 mins, it was very frustrating. We would not stay here again I’m afraid.

Reception staff very friendly

Good room and friendly staff. Annoying problem with flushing toilet was dealt with eventually.

SPA not accessible because of renovation, and we have been told with a short notice. Shower not entirely functional. Breakfast was ok, but not meeting our expectations regarding the venue. It’s a bit expensive regarding the service we got, whereas the venue itself was impressive.

Staff excellent from check to departure. Arrived early so went to reception just expecting to register the car park but room was ready which was a bonus. Great meal in peacheys in the evening followed by a quality breakfast the following morning.

Room, foid and amenities

Stunning building with imposing staircases and plenty of space, never feeling crowded. Staff were professional and friendly. Rooms were well appointed and bathrooms stylish and spacious.

Room was amazing, clean, comfortable and large. Toiletries were nice too.

Great place to stay. Great brekkie, great location and great bars

Arrived to find the spa and pool had been closed for maintenance. Awaiting refund for this. No WiFi in room, and the bathroom had scuff marks, paint missing, and the toilet area was so small, when sat, the holder was squashed into your arm. and your legs were against the sink! Not what you expect for nearly £200 night stay. Hotel itself was lovely, but room was dreadful.

Rooms nice and clean, hotel lounge and bar were absolutely spectacular, also a perfect location for exploring York city centre. What really makes this hotel though is the staff, they are very attentive and nothing is too much trouble, big thank you to Patrick who looked after us in Peacy’ bar and grill for dinner and also Laura on reception for being amazing and making us feel very special, thankyou Team Milner, hope to see you again soon.

Sadly phoned ahead for at sbeetand blanket on bed not a duvet m That didnt happen. Also breakfast cleared on the dot of 10. Surely if you offer breakfasts up to10 there should be some

Room was a perfect temperature, nice towels and bedding. The tv was well positioned and the water was hot at all times Breakfast was good but some foods could have been a little warmer but that’s often the challenge for buffet service. The range and availability was great though. The lounge and bar are was very well run by professional and friendly staff who definitely know how to deliver great customer service. Drinks and food were all up to the required standard. The reception team were also very helpful and friendly providing good information and a smooth experience

Small rooms, difficult to control the temperature and generally felt outdated apart from the bathroom
