The hotel looks amazing from the outside with a unique design. We were lucky to get a room upgrade, and we absolutely loved the room. It was very spacious, beautiful, and comfortable. Plus, it was the only hotel on our UK trip with AC, which made a big difference! We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay in York.

Excellent stay...beautiful hotel, immaculately maintained...a level above anything else we stayed out during our vacation. Centrally located within easy walking distance of almost anything you'd want to see. Parking was a bit dodgy since the hotel seems to be booked for all sorts of event. The breakfast was ideal. I really want to go back for more.

The location of the hotel is perfectly placed to walk into York town centre. On arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful and allowed us to check in early. Our room was small but very clean with a comfortable bed, the shower was particularly nice. The common areas were beautifully decorated and spacious.

The hotel's main building is a beautiful example of mid 19th century railway hotel architecture and design. The main reception hall and grand staircase are superb. The air conditioning was first-class. And that's about it. The accessible room was 300 steps from reception including two lifts and a long rising incline passageway. It was 500 steps from the bar and restaurant. The bar was devoid of atmosphere and Peachey's looked uninspiring. The accessible room was poorly planned. No full side of bed available for getting in and out of bed. No stand for suitcase. Although there is a kettle there is no accessible surface on which to place it near an electrical socket. We had to use the floor! The bathroom was clean and spacious the shower did not function correctly. Not to mention the cost of car parking which is not included in the room rate. A disappointing 2 night stay.

A wonderful building and a beautiful interior, very nice bathroom and spacious bedroom, though we booked cozy double and the bed was a bit small for two plus we could hear the neighbours, next time I would book a bigger room facing garden, not the street. Breakfast is nice if you like, traditional English one. Everything you want to see in York is 10 min walk away, great location.

I loved the proximity to the train station, perfect location to visit York for the first time, staff were lovely. Room was clean, bed was very comfy. My room didnt get much sunlight, but it is a period building with small windows. Shower was spacious, but I couldnt figure out how to use it properly, also instructions for the aircon would be helpful. I plan to return, and to stay longer next time.

Clean room, helpful staff, lovely bar and spa, lovely air con. Only couple of problems, one is need more plug sockets only 4 sockets which one had lamp plugged and the other for kettle. Had to move table to put kettle on near to a plug socket, table was heavy to move. Also stopped in disable room, the room was a distant away from main entrance which, I can't walk very far so wasn't very disabled friendly.

This hotel is beautiful. We originally booked a standard room which was tiny and had the most uncomfortable bed. The toilet was so close to the door the toilet roll holder was jammed to your leg and we are fairly average sized people. We decided to upgrade for the 2nd night and got a King deluxe which was amazing with a favourite roll top bath and separate shower. Much more spacious and the bed was firm but much better than the previous bed. Unfortunately the A/C wasn't working and made a regular weird noise but that didn't spoil our stay. The cream tea in The Garden Room was the best one we had in York. Delicious. Overall I would recommend but don't stay in a standard room as they are tiny!

Spacious room with view towards the Minster. Everything in the hotel was spotless and well maintained . Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. We also had dinner which was lovely and well presented . All the staff we met on our visit couldn't have been nicer or more helpful .

A classic railway hotel. I had an amazing view of York Minster from my room. Excellent pool & leisure suite. Very good breakfasts. The lifts were broken, which was a problem for the less mobile.

No porter service or ramp to get your case up the first 10 steps to reception. Internal lift not working all weekend. Room key stopped working so down and back up the steps you go again - no apology. Room not serviced despite being out between the hours of 10am and 4pm. Couldn’t get a drink in the Garden Room - told by reception they were too short staffed! View from the room should have been to the city and the Minster but heavy scaffolding ruined this. Beautiful building and interior ruined by terrible service. Staff will walk past you lugging your bags up and down the stairs and not even look you in the eye or greet you, let alone offer to help. There are other hotels near the station which I will try next time.

This was the 4th hotel in York I'd tried over a few months. Overall I felt the most comfortable and considered it best value. The classic appeal and atmosphere was very enjoyable. Being adjacent to the railway station was a massive advantage with access slmost off the platform.
