Honolulu Airport (HNL), officially Daniel K. Inouye International Airport and formerly Honolulu International Airport, is Hawaii's main airport and the hub of Hawaiian Airlines. Terminal 1

Terminal 3 is the commuter terminal. Check-in is on the ground level, and passengers board the smaller aircraft by steps.

Moving between terminals

Free intra-airport shuttle buses link Terminals 1, 2 and 3. Terminals 1 and 2 are also connected after security, so passengers can walk between them. Follow the signs for your departure terminal and leave time to reach the gate.

Getting to and from Honolulu Airport

Honolulu Airport is close to downtown and has both rail and bus links. Fares are set by each operator and shown at the station, the stop or in the operator's app.

Skyline rail

Lelepaua Station serves the airport from Ala Onaona Street and Ala Auana Street. Pedestrian bridges and walkways connect the station with the terminal area. Follow signs for the station and check your final destination before boarding.

TheBus (W Line)

TheBus W Line stops on Ala Onaona Street, east of the lei stands and in front of Lelepaua Station. It runs to Downtown Honolulu, Kakaako, Ala Moana Center and Waikiki.

Taxi, shuttle and rideshare

Taxis are available outside the arrivals area; follow signs and staff directions to the designated rank. On-demand door-to-door shuttles leave from the baggage claim level and go to locations across Oahu. Rideshare uses the designated ride-app pick-up zones shown on the airport's map.

Car rental

The Consolidated Rent-A-Car facility is across from Terminal 2. Follow the signs from baggage claim and confirm your rental provider's collection and return instructions.

Parking

There are three garages: the Terminal 1 Garage, the Terminal 2 Garage and the International Parking Garage. Free cell phone waiting lots let drivers wait nearby until their passenger is ready, and accessible spaces are provided in airport parking facilities. Check rates on the airport's parking pages.

Facilities at Honolulu Airport

In Terminals 1 and 2, check-in, departures and the arrival gates are on the second level. Baggage claim and ground transport are on the ground level.

Shopping and souvenirs

Terminal 2 has gift and apparel shops, Hawaiian packaged food, and flower and lei shops, so you can pick up a last taste of the islands before you fly.

Lounges

Terminal 2 has airline lounges including the United Club, Admirals Club and Delta Sky Club, plus ANA, Japan Airlines, Korean Air and Qantas lounges. Hawaiian Airlines has lounges in Terminal 1. Access depends on your ticket or membership.

Food and drink

Restaurants and bars are in Terminal 1 around the A Gates and in Terminal 2, in the main area and around the C Gates. Check the outlet's current opening hours before planning a meal.

Luggage storage, smoking and ATMs

Smarte Carte runs attended baggage storage at the airport. Honolulu Airport is smoke-free from cabin to curb, with smoking allowed only in designated outdoor areas, outside the terminal buildings. ATMs are in Terminals 1 and 2, on the second level and in baggage claim, and at the rental car area.

Wi-Fi, medical help and accessibility

Free Wi-Fi covers Terminals 1 and 2, with faster paid options. A medical clinic is available at the airport. If you need mobility assistance, explain your needs to the airline before travelling, including help during a connection.

Tips for departing and arriving at Honolulu Airport

Follow your airline's check-in and boarding deadlines. Allow extra time if you need to park, return a rental car or travel between terminals. Passengers heading to the US mainland also pass a US Department of Agriculture baggage inspection, so leave time for that.
