What Guests Say About Their Stay

Beautiful property. Staff was very professional and courteous. Our check-in experience was great. Leon went the extra mile to get our itinerary going. He booked transit passes for our stay, secured dinner reservations at Sky Bistro, and booked our gondola tickets for a great ride to and from our dining option. The rooms have a modern lodge feel, updated finishing and mixed materials give a warm, sophisticated, tranquil, resort feel. The outdoor hot tubs are located in an upper deck terrace with a view of the main street and mountains in the distance. Showers have both adjustable shower head as well as large rain shower head. Wall mounted AC unit is a little small and was able to sufficiently cool the room; however, it might struggle during hotter months. Pillow choices were also all the same which was slightly firm so if you want softer pillows you might have to ask for available options or bring your own if you have a strong preference.

Great stay at this place. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Good Folk restaurant at the main floor has great food and wine selections, servers and Manager were great. Avail of their free bus pass if you’re not driving. Very convenient, bus stops right in front of the hotel.

Exceptional hotel, best of our trip! The newly designed Otter Hotel more than met my expectations! - Large and spotless room and bathroom (very hard working housekeeping team) with EPIC mountain view - pay the extra and book early / stay a bit longer to take advantage of their longer stay offers/ worth it! - Free Transit passes great - In room coffee making or tea provided (personalised) a nice touch with REAL milk or oat milk in tiny bottles. - gorgeous Rocky Mountain locally sourced bathroom products - rooftop hot pools and fire pits wonderful.

The Otter is a fairly new property but it's already looking hard lived in. The common areas need better cleaning especially vacuuming, corners are banged up, hallways aren't clean and the elevators are grubby (and really slow). It's modern but that doesn't mean it's luxurious. Saying this is a luxury hotel is not accurate. We paid $800+ for our room for one night. It was at the back with a view of the alley and trees. Not worth it! The rooms are cramped, there's no sound proofing (people in the hall may as well be in your room), no vanity in the bathroom just a shelf over the sink, no extra toiletries other than basic shampoo, conditioner and soap, no robes, no slippers, only one type of pillow that's really thick and firm (not comfortable), no ironing board, no coffee or tea in the room (you have to ask for it at the front desk). There's a gym and hot tubs but the change rooms are really inadequte. Although this hotel covers the basics, it's just that - basic without the luxuries you expect in a luxury hotel but they sure know how to charge..

Overall, our visit was good. I had higher expectations. We had to wait almost 2 hours to check in. Front desk staff were curt and not very helpful. We were told after the fact that they had transportation passes we could use for free. After we had already walked the town on foot. The rooms were very small, very deceiving from photos. The AC unit was on the wall right next to the bed, so it blew on you all night and you froze to death. We paid for a Mountain View, and technically, that’s what we had, just a very obstructed view. The location was very convenient to all the sites. Housekeeping was great and restocked all supplies as requested. Overall, I felt it was super expensive, but then we were in a national park.

Nice new property. Really well maintained. Staff were lovely. A little bit away from the full on downtown area but it's either a short walk or a short bus ride (they give you free bus passes) so that wasn't really an issue. Really enjoyed our stay.

Very nice, clean (small) rooms. Housekeeping was on top of things and did an amazing job. Hot pools had amazing views, were very well maintained and comfortable. Only thing we had trouble with was trying to do laundry. Only 2 machines on site and 1 was out of order. People were continuously trying to use.

This is the perfect stay in Banff town. Free garage parking & bus passes to downtown banff. Free bear rental spray. We used the hot tub everyday after hiking and it was a true lifesaver. The restaurant was perfect after arriving late and the breakfast next door was phenomenal. Truly very impressed by everything and I would recommend to anyone and stay here again

The front desk staff were very helpful and generously let us keep our loaner bear spray for so we could take a hike after we had checked out. The location is a little away from the crowds of downtown which was nice. Only minor issue was the parking garage had pretty tight spots and many were out of service - but at least parking was included as street parking in Banff was a rare commodity.
