The Tower Hotel, by Thistle

TV didn't work when we checked in, but to be fair the maintenance team replaced the TV quickly. We also had dripping water coming through to the clothes cupboard from the ceiling above = wet clothes, great!! The Wi-Fi connection in the room was weak, the TV wouldn't connect to it but thankfully we managed to get our infant's Wi-Fi tablet connected (or it would have been a nightmare!!). There was a real lack of available power sockets in the room, but suspect due to it being an older building. On a more positive note though, location was great and the staff / facilities of hotel really good.

The staff were very obliging, friendly and professional, including the guys on the concealer desk you Kept a lift open and empty for my wife and I as my wife was in a wheelchair a little bit of extra help goes a long way after a long day of travelling via train and underground pushing a wheelchair with your wife and your baggage on thank you so much for the cons and all the staff 100% professional

Perfectly located right next to Tower Bridge, handy for the tube and city with plenty of taxis available.

Room was ok with a great view but I had asked for an upgrade which just didn't happen. Air conditioning was very poor making the room very hot over night, the staff were helpful and got us a portable unit but this no use at all. The bathroom was very tired with black mold marks and broken seals around the bath, toilet didn't flush properly and a couple of broken tiles. We also had the cleaner knocking on our door at 9am asking when were leaving! Breakfast was average at best.

Comfy bedding and everything was clean. Location was perfect!!!

Ideally situated on the Thames, close to The Tower of London, easy access to Uber river taxis, room was a good size, bed was very comfortable, staff were extremely friendly & helpful. Lots of bars & restaurants within a short walk. We would definitely stay here again.

Great location, views are amazing and transport links are good. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Some money has been spent in the lobby area to modernise it and it looks fab, lots of work is going on to improve the outside area too. The breakfast is brilliant, variety of choice and quality of food is excellent. The bedroom was a little tired, the fixtures could do with updating, and the bathroom - although clean - was showing lots of wear and tear. I’ve stayed in this hotel many times, will stay here again, and would definitely recommend it as a great base for a trip to London.

We have been to this hotel a number of times over the years and mainly go for the view of Tower Bridge, which was as spectacular as always, and accessibility to lovely areas of London. Unfortunately, the rest of the stay on this occasion was not as good as previous visits. We arrived to no hot water (which after travelling for many hours was not great, but appreciate these things happen), but were not told about this at check-in. There was an unpleasant "cheesy" smell in the bedroom, which we discovered after 2 days was cheese, sausage and some other bits left in a drawer by the previous occupants that hadn't been cleaned during turnover. The room itself was looking tired and the hotel generally needed a bit of TLC. We spoke to staff about the water and the smell, who acknowledged that it wasn't great, but that was the end of their concern. The concierge service was good, and we left our bags there after we checked out so that we could walk without them around London.

Unfortunately, we did not research enough to realize they did not have air conditioning in the room, our stay was in July. They did however provide a table fan. The bathrooms were very dated, cracked tile, porcelain coating missing on the tub, a toilet that used 15 gallons of water a flush. On the flip side we had an amazing view of tower Bridge. Would I stay there again? Probably not due to the bathrooms. I will give a shout out to the concierge they were amazing and helpful.

Great location. Lobby staffs were pretty helpful. Oh I went right between the Europe heat wave, room air con almost non exist. You can only open the windows by an inch or 2. We pretty much relied our tiny portable desk fan to stay cool during the night. Everything in the room is pretty aged. Handles on the cabinets and drawers are pretty much half gone/broken. No mini fridge but at least do have a safe. First morning, we were really tired from the traveling, we have the do not disturb light on. Well, room door bell rang around 8/9am. I showed the housekeeper "do not disturb" light. She showed me her phone saying the app said there was no one in the room. Second morning we left the room around 8:15am and have the " clean room" lights on. Well, we got back after 3pm and housekeeping just started with the bathroom. We left really early the next morning, like 4am. All the staff at that time were all very nice and helpful. Would I stay there again? probably yes but not during summer. You really cannot complain about the location and the Tower bridge view.

It is a nice place to stay but the AC doesn’t really get cold and it’s a large place so it didn’t really feel personal. The location is great and the room was kept very clean. Overall I would say there again.

Good location and views, breakfast was good and quick. Clean and functional. They’re updating the rooms but I was in one of the dated ones- fine, but nothing special. Smelled a bit funny in public areas.

Great location, clean rooms, great breakfast buffet and restaurant, nice staff.

Under major construction inside and out. Staff on reception promised a “cooler” during 33 degree days that was not provided. Sold out elsewhere or we would have moved. Concierge were great. Reception not so much. Too few desks open, new set up does not work, ie no place near desks to sit or lean with long lineups. Communication issues with many customers.

I was disappointed with our stay for the cost per night , our Room at check-in had No Cleenex , our safe was broken , In the bathroom there was very Excessive Mold on the Ceiling , there was No fridge which i would of thought a hotel of this size that all rooms would of come with a fridge. When booking hotels its not a common thing to look to see if the room has a fridge as 99% have them in every room. I'm Diabetic and i had nowhere to store my Insulin which needs to be kept refrigerated. I had to toss out the insulin viles that went bad due not being refrigerated. I need to have quick and easy access to it. Also with the hot water issue at the hotel which I understand these things can happen but a big inconvenience none the less .The staff was very nice and helpful, they responded very quickly with the issue of the safe. With the water issue they extended our breakfast for the rest of our stay ! Love the location surrounding area near the hotel, absoutley a beautiful view of Tower Bridge and the River Thames,Bed was comfortable, But overall I was disappointed with our Room. I usually come to London twice a year and stay at the London Hilton Metropole but I thought this time I would try the Tower Hotel.

Not ideal stay. Pretty run down hotel for the price. Had to evacuate early Friday morning and could only return to room to pack bags and leave while someone marshalled me up. Wasn’t able to brush teeth shower or anything and had to rush out while my boyfriend waited on the street. Not great at all
