I enjoyed my stay at The Thistle. The property was a bit older and not modern, but there were ample amenities, and you cannot beat the vibrant location. It is in walking distance to the Tower of London, the tube station, the docks, and all sorts of international eating.

The rooms and location were fine however the cleaning staff never listed to our instructors of do not disturb and only provide 1 clean bath towel each time they cleaned. The constant construction noise was also annoying. I’d consider looking else where for the price

Stayed in a standard double room overlooking Tower Bridge which the view was great. The room was very outdated and needed a bit more focus on the cleaning. No usb sockets and still old sockets for fax machines! The furniture was old wooden cupboards and the door to the one with the mini fridge was not quite on its hinge. The carpet, although vacuumed, could do with a clean and there were quite a number of lamps and surfaces with dust on. Walls we know become damaged which can't be helped but one of the lamp shades had brown stains marks on it. The sheet on the bed also had a tear in it. The bathroom, we found a hair or two and the bath itself was quite grubby and porus so appeared to be dirty. I know from experience this can be difficult to make look clean. There were rust marks on the tiles from where perhaps a handrail once was. It was also quite dark as only 3 spotlights. All that said, the view was lovely, were were staying for a special birthday and I had put this on my booking and around 10 minutes after arrival, there was a knock at the door with a complimentary bottle of wine and a slice of cake. We dined at Vicinity and the food was plentiful and again a complimentary slice of cheesecake was given for the birthday boy. Overall the sleep was fine, the bed itself was comfy although I have sensitive skin and did find the bedding a little too stiff. Breakfast in the Gallery was self serviced and plenty of continental and full English options available. We were room 643.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay. Room was plenty spacious for our needs and had everything we needed although would have liked even just a small fridge. Not something I would normally comment on but I have to make mention of the towels as they were lovely and thick and soft and a good size. All too often hotel towels barely cover you but this wasn’t the case here. Hotel is in a great location next to Tower Bridge and has lovely views of the river. I would definitely stay here again.

Great location and view of Tower Bridge amazing during the day and at night. Hotel currently undergoing a massive refurbishment and though with many apologies the building work began very early. The areas that have been completed are really lovely and I’m sure eventually the rest of the hotel will look the same. The rooms however, though a little ‘tired looking’ are very clean and breakfast was excellent! The completed bar areas were amazing!
