The Tower Hotel, by Thistle

We booked both rooms with Tower Bridge view but only got one with the view, when asked the staff said that Family Rooms has never had the bridge view so I dont know why they advertised it. The staff were really helpful though. But the cleanliness was below average, very old furnitures, no fridge in any of the rooms, NO Air conditioner and when asked we were provided with small table fans in each room. The Bathroom had no basic amenities at all, over all it was a disappointment. Other than the spot they are in, our experience was pretty much not as we desired. We had really high hopes.

I can’t fault this hotel for the location - it’s the reason we have stayed here twice this year. But honestly, the whole hotel needs ripping out and starting again to bring it up to date. There are limited plugs in all rooms. None of them have any plugs near the bed. There are NO USB sockets anywhere. There is no aircon, and the air cooling system fails when it gets too hot. The showers are weak and badly positioned. There is (poor quality) handwash in the bathrooms, but no complimentary toiletries or basic vanity kits. There are, however, plenty of towels in each room and of a good size. The beds are comfortable. If you want to blow dry your hair, you can only see yourself in the dressing mirror if you’re over 6ft tall. The hotel is currently refurbing the lobby reception area, and the noise of works throughout the day is hugely disruptive in rooms, even 3 floors above. If you’re jet lagged or wanting a lie in, sleep is the last thing you’ll get. I also have security concerns as anyone can enter the hotel lifts and access any floor of the hotel, no room keys are required to operate them.

Always the wow factor on arrival thanks to the location next to Tower Bridge and Tower of London. Rooms are comfortable and well maintained. Only a 5-10 minute walk away from Tower Hill underground and if planning a visit to the Bridge Theatre, a short walk across the bridge. The only downfall for us was arriving in a heatwave as there is no air conditioning. In fairness, on arrival curtains were drawn to avoid sunlight and there was a fan in the room but it was hot, hot, hot. A second fan was requested with the concierge who was super helpful the next morning which made our second night’s stay far more bearable. I did know in advance having stayed here before about the lack of air on but booked before I knew of the impending heatwave. Would definitely book again but not in the summer.

Excellent location within walking distance of several amazing historical sites and delicious pubs.

The rooms were super hot and stuffy and the air conditioning barely did a thing.

Room was very hot during the heatwave so not ideal for sleeping. Lots of loud drilling noises from 9am due to works going on. Location lovely and magnificent view, spoiled slightly by the dirty windows.

Close to Tower Bridge and public transport. Very helpful team members throughout.Great breakfast and atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Construction was highly disruptive. The hotel should have closed the lobby altogether to get the work done. Construction noise in room (jackhammer next door) was a bit much from 8:00am to 5:30pm daily! Staff unhelpful. 33C in the room and no air conditioning! Front desk staff unable to unlock our room when our key cards would not work. Gotta get the easy things right! Tower Hotel...you should be ashamed. The tents under the bridge would be better accommodation. We will not return to the property...ever. Don't waste your money on a stay here. Sincerely, highly disappointed Canadians.

We had a room with a beautiful view of the Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. Room was spacious for a London room.

Very clean, helpful staff, GREAT VIEW, convenient self check out snack station downstairs…

There was no aircon on the hottest days of the year, we weren’t the only guests struggling with the heat, we were given a fan which blew hot air at us and then a cooling machine, also there was building work going on which would have been good to know when choosing to book, don’t expect a leisurely lay in as work starts early
