Brinchang or also known as Berincang is a town and hill resort located 1540 meters high above the sea level in Cameron Highlands, state of Pahang, Malaysia. The town gets its name from the nearby Brinchang Mountain. Unlike any other places in Malaysia, the climate is slightly different. Based on the Köppen-Geiger climate classification system, Brinchang is considered to have a subtropical highland climate. As such, the average temperature is always lower in comparison to other major cities, which is typically below 22°C but higher than -3°C. Due to this factor, it has attracted tourists over years to experience the mild and colder atmosphere in Brinchang and Cameron Highlands. Brinchang in terms of size is the second biggest township in Cameron Highlands after Tanah Rata. Nonetheless the development works are not as lacking, in fact it has been going on rapidly to accommodate tourists from all over the country as well as the neighbouring Singapore.
People driving from Kuala Lumpur may drive via North-South Highway/E1 and Route 59 for immediate access to the township of Brinchang. The journey could take up to three hours depending on the traffic situation.
There is no major bus terminal, instead guests can opt to stop by the bus station in Brinchang. Take the trip directly to Cameron Highlands from the integrated Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) terminal using express bus services such as Unititi Express and CS Travel before opting for taxi or by foot to go to the township and the areas nearby.
Cameron Bharat Tea Estate is a tea plantation and tea drinking café all in one package. Situated four kilometres south of Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands, it is run by the Bharat Group, one of the major powerhouses working on producing the highest quality tea leaves around. There are a few of these plantations around which is owned by different companies, with Bharat Group being the second biggest tea producer in Cameron Highlands. Aside from enjoying the mesmerising view of the tea plantations and going up close with the tea farmers, one can opt to enjoy a cup of tea and delicacies in the cafes provided in the complex. Open daily from 8.30 in the morning to six in the evening, teas being served are of flavour unique to Cameron Highlands.
For visitors interested to go on jungle trekking, Brinchang Mossy Forest is a terrific option. As the name suggests, the forest located in Batu Gangan Forest Reserve is wholly covered in moss. Due to this fact, some nature guide also called it Lord of the Rings Forest or Fantasy Forest. Advisably, to go through the forest, it would be convenient to have a guide that is familiar with the forest since it will save time and resources. During the trip, visitors will encounter some of the exotic flora species which include pitcher plants, orchids and primitive ferns. There are also about 70 species of birds here so bird-watching can also be a fascinating activity.
It feels incomplete to mention Brinchang without talking about this place. Famously known as a shopping attraction, Brinchang Night Market is open on Fridays and Saturdays starting from early evening until late at night. It is in this night market that the local products of Cameron Highlands can be found in abundance, among them including strawberries, vegetables, fruits, tea blends, ornamental plants and colourful souvenirs.
