Lanchang is a small town located in the between Raub and Mentakab towns of Pahang, Malaysia. The township is within the administration of the Temerloh district and is accessible via Lanchang interchange at East Coast Expressway. The closest tourist destination is the Cameron Highlands which is about 200 kilometres far. In general, the town thrives from agriculture, with a multitude of FELDA projects such as rubber and palm oil plantations going on majorly here. Such activities are possible here due to the lower population density, hence there are much more ample areas to do agriculture. How to Get There

From Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the feasible method is to go directly by bus. From the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS), you can take public transportation to the Pekeliling Bus Terminal, a bus terminal dedicated to East Coast destinations. From here, you can take the Maraliner Express or Plusliner Express line directly to Lanchang. Another option is to go by car. A lot of car rental services company are ready to provide their services to you – check that you have your ID and licence and your toll card is topped up for the long journey.

Cameron Bharat Tea Estate

Cameron Bharat Tea Estate is a tea plantation and tea drinking café all in one package. Situated four kilometres south of Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands, it is run by the Bharat Group, one of the major powerhouses working on producing the highest quality tea leaves around. There are a few of these plantations around which is owned by different companies, with Bharat Group being the second biggest tea producer in Cameron Highlands. Aside from enjoying the mesmerising view of the tea plantations and going up close with the tea farmers, one can opt to enjoy a cup of tea and delicacies in the cafes provided in the complex. Open daily from 8.30 in the morning to six in the evening, teas being served are of flavour unique to Cameron Highlands.

Brinchang Mossy Forest

For visitors interested to go on jungle trekking, Brinchang Mossy Forest is a terrific option. As the name suggests, the forest located in Batu Gangan Forest Reserve is wholly covered in moss. Due to this fact, some nature guide also called it Lord of the Rings Forest or Fantasy Forest. Advisably, to go through the forest, it would be convenient to have a guide that is familiar with the forest since it will save time and resources. During the trip, visitors will encounter some of the exotic flora species which include pitcher plants, orchids and primitive ferns. There are also about 70 species of birds here so bird-watching can also be a fascinating activity.

Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation Centre

Back in 1989, the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (DWNP) began an initiative to establish the National Elephant Conservation Centre or Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary. The centre is meant to be a base for the Elephant Relocation Team, which has their elephant translocation programme running since 1974. The team works to locate, subdue and translocate elephants from their endangered habitats due to plantations encroaching to other suitable habitats throughout Peninsular Malaysia, which included the National Park, being the only one of its kind in Malaysia. Furthermore, the centre also conducts public awareness activities related to the conservation issues of elephants in Malaysia. It also supports research activities on elephant translocation and conservation. The centre is open to visitors daily throughout the year. Among the activities available to the visitors are assisting in bathing and feeding these elephants.
