Avoid this place. We stayed here in July 2025 for 4 days and it was a disaster. Before arrival, no response from the property despite multiple attempts. They also provided wrong info about boat schedules from Kuala Besut (boats actually leave every 40 min). Day 1: The place looked abandoned, unfinished buildings, scaffolding, and garbage everywhere. No reception, just a guy at the bar watching loud videos on his phone. He didn’t speak English, so we used the translator. He refused early check-in, probably to sell us a drink during the wait. The sea view room was dirty: stained sheets, hair and dirt in the bathroom, sewer smell, a broken mirror, and no hot water. Complaining didn’t help. Day 2: The day after, we asked if the problem had been fixed. He told us he hadn’t been able to fix it and that a part needed to be ordered, which would arrive the following day. We asked for a different room, but that wasn’t possible. Other guests also stood waiting at “reception” for hours with no help. Day 3: A manager finally showed up and spoke English, but instead of fixing anything, he offered us snacks and a cocktail. He then said it was a public holiday and repairs would be done the next day. We were promised a room change if the issue persisted. Too late, we had only one day left and were showering using the bidet shower. Day 4: Shower was finally fixed. In short: Structure is falling apart, staff is incompetent, and hygiene is unacceptable. Save your holiday, book elsewhere.

Dirty hotel, the matress was very old and the room was very dirty. Seems that wasn't cleaned before the arrival. It's sad because it has the best spot on the beach. If the hotel changes and take care of the costumers it will be top but sadly, not now

Guesthouse familiale. Acceuil chaleureux, nourriture excellente. Je recommande cet endroit avant tout à celles et ceux qui recherchent un endroit convivial, dans environnement calme et reposant. Ma chambre était simple, mais me convenait pour les quelques jours passés sur place.

It had a lot of bad reviews in here but I thought it could not be so bad, but unfortunately it was. The bathroom conditions were horrible and there were many insects such as spiders in the room. The whole property seems to not have been taken care for years. Also when you get to the place the real name of the hotel is Empire which sounds a bit suspicious to have a different name from the listing here. I certainly would recommend any other place in the island.

Nice location at the end of the beach. One of the best sites there. This part of beach is without boat traffic and with basic snorkeling possibilities. Rooms/cottages are well maintained, clean, most of them really large. Everything works (a/c, fan, hot water). Unfortunately the "garden" area is quite full of mess. Some better care would help. It doesn't look like 'luxurious resort' but it is not as bad choice as some reviews say.

berkenaan dengan bbq set, makanan sejuk, nasi keras, bbq set sepatutnya at least panas, tapi semua sejuk, keras. one more i order bbq untuk 5dewasa 2kanak2, yang sampai hanya untuk 5 dewasa sahaja. pihak hotel tak nak refund my money back and replace balik untuk masak tapi i denied. and i setuju replace untuk breakfast keesokkkanya. esoknya, person incharge sakit, yang replacement tak tahu menahu pasal replacement untuk breakfast and keep waiting for response. bad service

This property is in a prime location on a quiet beach on Besar Island. The staff are friendly. I stayed in a dorm which is very basic. Has AC and fan, towel was provided. The shower and toilets are outdoors so there will be bugs, naturally. There are frogs in the toilet stalls so be aware if you are afraid of frogs. No hot water but not really needed in that weather. It was very peaceful there as there weren’t too many guests. It’s the lowest rate I could find, which provided the basics needed during my stay at Perhentian Island.

I had read the bad reviews, but I consider myself a seasoned traveller SEAsia-wise, and a backpacker with pretty low standards. This place still managed to shock me. There is just no excuse for the moldy mattresses in the dorms, the years-old dust collecting around the walls. It's just plain dirty. Maybe the non-dorm rooms are nicer?? The owners were very nice, but I don't understand how they can let their rooms get so filthy. Sorry. If you're a backpacker, watch out here.

Bad management, no facilities. People are not polite, they don’t have anything there. It’s a complete fake place. I was the only person who was staying there with my family! Management charged 10 ringgit every day as a tax! Expedia didn’t mention about that. I moved to the new place- they didn’t ask for this tax. This place seriously considers how to treat the traveller and how to manage the people and their convenience. I paid quite a bit of money:) ~650 AUD for 8 nights!!! I didn’t get any refunds. Expedia is saying - eco Marine is not refunding the money. Eco marine is saying Expedia is taking all the money. You guys stop blaming each other. It’s a trap to stay this place through Expedia. Expedia shouldn’t recommend to stay anyone there. Even they put a 4/5 recommendation through Expedia in front of their reception! I didn't want to ruin my holidays...so I decided to move somewhere else. Book at Florabay, Semudra...they are nice and cheap. Good friendly staff. Eat at Ocean beach boyz...

Loved the location and the beach. Very disappointed with level of cleanliness. Some of the rooms we had (had 4 in total) had no toilet paper another had no rubbish bin in and was scattered wity rubbish on bathroom floor under the sink. Another had no towels.
