I have stayed at this hotel many times before. The staff are very friendly and give good service. The rooms are very spacious and for the price paid, the hotel represents good value for money. Everything was working in the room that I had this time, but if there is a problem, staff are always quick to sort things out. The hotel comes with both a swimming pool and a gym. A restaurant is on site, but I did not use that. The location is good, right in the heart of Makati. Overall, I would recommend.

staycation
We initially planned for an overnight staycation, but we were so happy with the accommodation and the hotel services that we ended up staying 4 days and 3 nights total! The room and bathroom were clean, refillable water is readily available on each floor, and in my opinion, the rates are such a steal for a 5-star hotel. The staff were super helpful and extra friendly towards our 3-year-old toddler. Needless to say, we will be back real soon!

More about hotels in Olympia

Discover Olympia: A Vibrant Hub in the Philippines

Olympia, a dynamic district within the bustling metropolis of the Philippines, offers an intriguing blend of modern urban energy and accessible local charm that appeals to a diverse range of international travellers. Unlike the more laid-back island destinations, Olympia presents a sophisticated urban experience, characterized by its impressive skyline, thriving business districts, and a surprisingly rich cultural undercurrent. For those seeking a taste of the Philippines that goes beyond beaches and historical ruins, Olympia provides a compelling gateway to the nation's contemporary pulse, offering world-class amenities and a unique perspective on Filipino life.

The true allure of Olympia lies in its distinct neighbourhoods, each offering a unique flavour and atmosphere that can significantly shape an international visitor's experience. From the sleek, business-oriented enclaves of San Lorenzo and Salcedo Village to the more bohemian and artistic vibes of Poblacion, and the well-established residential areas like Bel-Air and Legazpi Village, Olympia is a city of contrasts. Even within the immediate vicinity of Olympia itself, you'll find pockets of activity and tranquility, demonstrating that choosing where to base yourself is a crucial first step in unlocking the city's multifaceted appeal.

For international travellers, particularly those from the United States, Europe, and India, Olympia presents itself as a destination offering exceptional value. With an average starting price of ₱ 8.4 from 161 reviews per night, it positions itself as an accessible urban centre. This affordability, when compared to major global cities, allows visitors to experience a high standard of accommodation and dining without the prohibitive costs often associated with international travel, making it an attractive proposition for those looking to stretch their travel budgets further.

The accommodation landscape in Olympia mirrors its diverse character, offering options that cater to every preference and budget. For instance, the Circuit Hostel provides a more communal and budget-friendly experience, often favoured by solo travellers and backpackers, while The Circuit Manor Hotel near Ayala Malls Circuit offers a more conventional hotel stay at an accessible price point. These establishments, alongside a vast array of other properties, are readily available for those looking to book hotel stays that align with their travel plans and financial considerations.

Olympia is a destination that speaks to a broad spectrum of international visitors. For American travellers, its modern infrastructure and shopping opportunities will resonate. European travellers might find themselves drawn to the burgeoning arts scene and the blend of old and new architecture. Indian travellers will appreciate the connectivity, the diverse culinary options, and the overall value for money. While direct connections might be less common for African travellers, the city's role as a major hub in Southeast Asia makes it an accessible and rewarding stopover or primary destination for those exploring the region.

Best Areas to Stay in Olympia

Olympia is not a monolithic entity; rather, it is a collection of distinct neighbourhoods, each with its own character, amenities, and appeal to international visitors. Choosing the right area to stay can profoundly influence your trip, from the ease of accessing attractions to the local atmosphere you'll experience daily. Understanding these differences is key to crafting a memorable stay in this dynamic Philippine locale.

Olympia

The immediate Olympia district, often synonymous with its namesake, offers a dynamic urban environment that balances commercial activity with residential pockets. It's a place where the pulse of the city is palpable, with a mix of modern developments and established communities. For international travellers, this area provides a convenient base, especially if proximity to entertainment and business hubs is a priority. The general vibe is one of constant motion, with a strong sense of local life unfolding alongside the more polished offerings.

Within Olympia, you'll find a range of dining options, from casual eateries to more upscale establishments, reflecting the diverse population. Its accessibility is a major plus, with good transport links making it easy to explore other parts of the city. For those looking for value, accommodation here can be quite affordable, with prices around ₱ 1,223.04/night for certain options, making it an attractive choice for budget-conscious travellers. Getting here from the main international airport typically involves a taxi or ride-sharing service, taking approximately 45-60 minutes depending on traffic.

San Lorenzo

San Lorenzo is a prime example of Olympia's upscale and sophisticated side, often considered the heart of its commercial and business activities. This neighbourhood is characterized by gleaming skyscrapers, high-end shopping malls, and a generally polished and professional atmosphere. It's an area that appeals strongly to business travellers and those who appreciate luxury and convenience. The streets are well-maintained, and the overall impression is one of order and modernity, making it a comfortable and familiar environment for many international visitors.

This district is a shopper's and diner's delight, boasting some of the city's most exclusive boutiques and a wide array of international and local restaurants. Landmarks like the Ayala Center are easily accessible, offering a plethora of entertainment and retail options. For travellers seeking to book attractions and experiences, San Lorenzo serves as an excellent starting point. Transportation from the airport is straightforward via taxi or airport shuttle, with travel times usually around 40-55 minutes.

Bel-Air

Bel-Air presents a more residential and tranquil side of Olympia, offering a respite from the intense urban bustle while remaining remarkably well-connected. It's a neighbourhood known for its tree-lined streets, exclusive villages, and a sense of established community. This area is particularly suited for travellers who prefer a quieter base but still want easy access to the city's amenities. The vibe here is sophisticated yet relaxed, appealing to those who appreciate a blend of privacy and urban convenience.

Bel-Air offers a selection of charming cafes, local eateries, and boutique shops that cater to its residents. While not as densely packed with tourist attractions as some other districts, its proximity to major commercial centres means that dining and entertainment are never far away. The average price for accommodation can vary, but options exist that offer good value, sometimes around the ₱ 1,223.04/night mark for more modest stays. Access from the airport is typically via a 40-50 minute taxi ride, depending on traffic conditions.

Poblacion

Poblacion has emerged as one of Olympia's most dynamic and eclectic neighbourhoods, celebrated for its vibrant nightlife, burgeoning arts scene, and a diverse culinary landscape. It's a district that pulses with energy, attracting a younger, more bohemian crowd alongside established residents. For international visitors looking for an authentic urban experience with a creative edge, Poblacion is an excellent choice. The atmosphere is lively, sometimes gritty, but always engaging, offering a genuine slice of city life.

This area is a food lover's destination, renowned for its innovative restaurants, hidden bars, and international cuisine. It's a place where you can find everything from traditional Filipino fare to global gastronomic delights. Poblacion is also a hub for live music and art galleries, making it a cultural hotspot. While it offers a range of accommodation, it's particularly known for boutique hotels and serviced apartments. Getting to Poblacion from the airport usually takes about 45-60 minutes by car, depending on traffic flow.

Salcedo Village

Salcedo Village, often grouped with its neighbouring districts, stands out as a sophisticated business and residential hub within Olympia. It's characterized by its well-planned urban design, featuring modern office buildings interspersed with upscale residential condominiums and a pleasant array of green spaces. This neighbourhood appeals to professionals and travellers seeking a refined and orderly environment, offering a sense of calm amidst the city's energy. The overall impression is one of polished urban living and efficient city planning.

The village offers a curated selection of dining establishments, from business-lunch spots to elegant evening restaurants, catering to its professional and resident population. It's also home to parks and open spaces that provide a welcome break from the concrete jungle. For those interested in exploring local culture and cuisine, Salcedo Village provides a comfortable and accessible base. Travel from the airport typically takes around 40-55 minutes by taxi or ride-sharing service, making it relatively convenient.

Legazpi Village

Legazpi Village is another of Olympia's well-established and upscale districts, known for its blend of residential towers, corporate offices, and a sophisticated urban ambiance. It offers a sense of exclusivity and order, with well-maintained streets and a generally peaceful atmosphere. This neighbourhood is particularly attractive to travellers who value a refined living experience and easy access to business and commercial centres. The vibe is professional yet comfortable, making it a popular choice for discerning visitors.

San Antonio represents a more grounded and community-focused aspect of Olympia, offering a glimpse into local life away from the most prominent commercial centres. It's a neighbourhood that balances residential areas with local businesses and services, providing a more authentic feel. For international travellers looking to experience a less tourist-centric side of the city, San Antonio can be an appealing choice. The atmosphere is generally relaxed and friendly, with a strong sense of neighbourhood identity.

This district features a variety of local eateries and shops, offering a more intimate dining and shopping experience compared to the larger commercial hubs. It's a place where you can find everyday necessities and enjoy authentic Filipino cuisine at local prices. Culinary Delights of Olympia

What to Eat and Where to Find It in Olympia

The culinary landscape of Olympia is a vibrant reflection of the Philippines' rich gastronomic heritage, infused with global influences. A must-try is the classic Filipino adobo, a savory and tangy dish of meat braised in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns, often served with rice. For a taste of local street food, seek out isaw (grilled chicken or pork intestines) or kwek-kwek (deep-fried quail eggs coated in orange batter). These authentic flavours offer a delicious introduction to the Philippines' diverse food culture.

For an immersive dining experience, explore the bustling markets and food streets scattered throughout Olympia and its surrounding neighbourhoods. Areas like Poblacion are renowned for their eclectic mix of restaurants, from trendy cafes to authentic Filipino eateries. For Muslim travellers, finding Halal-certified restaurants is becoming increasingly feasible, with many establishments in larger commercial districts offering Halal options or clearly indicating their adherence to Islamic dietary laws. It's always advisable to inquire directly with restaurants about their Halal practices.

The cost of dining in Olympia offers excellent value for international travellers. Street food can be enjoyed for as little as ₱50-₱150 (approximately $1-3 USD), while a meal at a mid-range restaurant typically ranges from ₱500-₱1,500 (approximately $10-30 USD) per person. Upscale dining experiences can cost upwards of ₱2,500 (approximately $50 USD) and above. This affordability allows visitors from the US, Europe, and India to savour a wide variety of local and international cuisines without significant financial strain.

Navigating dining etiquette in Olympia is straightforward. Tipping is not mandatory but is appreciated for excellent service, with a 10% tip being customary. While many restaurants operate on Western meal times, locals often eat later. It's polite to wait for your host to begin eating or to observe local customs. When ordering, don't hesitate to ask for recommendations, and be open to trying new dishes – it's part of the adventure of experiencing Filipino cuisine.

Cultural Norms and Staying Safe in Olympia

Cultural Norms and Staying Safe in Olympia

Understanding local customs is key to a respectful and enjoyable visit to Olympia. Filipinos are generally known for their hospitality and politeness. A common greeting involves a slight nod or a smile, and using "po" and "opo" (particles indicating respect) when addressing elders or superiors is a sign of good manners. Public displays of affection are generally more reserved than in Western cultures. Be mindful of personal space, especially in crowded areas, and avoid pointing with your index finger; use an open hand gesture instead.

When visiting religious sites or more traditional areas, dressing modestly is appreciated. This typically means covering shoulders and knees. While photography is often allowed, it's always best to ask permission before taking pictures of individuals, especially in more rural or traditional settings. In restaurants, particularly those with a more local feel, it's common to eat with a spoon and fork, with the fork used to push food onto the spoon. Observe how locals interact and follow their lead to show respect.

Safety in Olympia is generally good, especially in well-trafficked tourist areas and business districts. However, like any major city, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings and take precautions. Keep valuables secure and out of sight, and be wary of petty theft in crowded places. For transportation, using reputable ride-hailing apps like Grab is highly recommended for safety and convenience, offering transparent pricing. Familiarize yourself with the local currency, the Philippine Peso (PHP), and have small denominations handy for smaller purchases.

In case of emergencies, the national emergency number is 911. For specific tourist assistance, local police hotlines can be found through your hotel or the Department of Tourism. It is also advisable for Filipino travellers to have the contact information for the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate in their destination country, should any unforeseen issues arise. For international visitors, ensuring you have adequate travel insurance that covers medical emergencies is a prudent step before your trip.
