We initially planned for an overnight staycation, but we were so happy with the accommodation and the hotel services that we ended up staying 4 days and 3 nights total! The room and bathroom were clean, refillable water is readily available on each floor, and in my opinion, the rates are such a steal for a 5-star hotel. The staff were super helpful and extra friendly towards our 3-year-old toddler. Needless to say, we will be back real soon!

My partner and I stayed for one night at Red Planet Amorsolo Branch in Makati, and it continues to be our favorite hotel whenever we visit the area. This was actually our fourth time booking this branch, and each stay has been consistently pleasant. One of the things we really appreciate about Red Planet Amorsolo is its excellent location. It’s conveniently situated near restaurants, convenience stores, and key spots in Makati, making it very easy to get around. Whether you’re visiting for a quick trip or a short staycation, the accessibility of the hotel is a big plus. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Even though the space is simple, it has everything we need for a relaxing stay. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the hot shower was great after a long day outside. We also appreciate how quiet and peaceful the environment is, which helped us rest well. Another highlight is the friendly and accommodating staff. Check-in and check-out were smooth and hassle-free, which we always value when staying at a hotel. Overall, Red Planet Amorsolo Branch remains our go-to place in Makati. Because of our consistently good experiences, we will definitely continue booking here for our future visits.

Food & Dining in Tejeros

Tejeros offers a culinary landscape that is as diverse and dynamic as the city itself, reflecting the diverse mix of Filipino cuisine with global influences. Iconic dishes such as Adobo, Sinigang, and Lechon are staples, prepared with local flair that can vary from neighbourhood to neighbourhood. Beyond these well-known favourites, travellers should seek out regional specialties and street food delights that offer an authentic taste of the Philippines. The city's food scene is a journey of discovery, with each meal providing a new perspective on local flavours.

For an immersive dining experience, exploring the vibrant food markets and designated food streets within Tejeros is highly recommended. Neighbourhoods like Poblacion, known for its eclectic mix of restaurants and bars, offer a fantastic starting point for culinary exploration. For Muslim travellers, finding Halal-certified eateries might require a bit more research, but many establishments are increasingly aware of dietary needs, and some restaurants in areas with larger Muslim communities offer Halal options. It's always advisable to inquire directly with the restaurant.

The cost of dining in Tejeros presents a favourable value for international visitors. Street food can be enjoyed for as little as ₱50-150 (roughly $1-3 USD), offering an incredibly affordable way to sample local tastes. Mid-range restaurants typically charge between ₱500-1,500 ($10-30 USD) per person for a full meal, while fine dining establishments can range from ₱2,000 upwards ($40+ USD). This pricing structure is generally more accessible than in many Western cities, allowing travellers to indulge in a variety of culinary experiences.

Navigating dining etiquette in Tejeros is straightforward for most international visitors. Tipping is not mandatory but is appreciated for excellent service, with a 10% tip being customary. Meal times are generally similar to Western schedules, though locals might dine later in the evening. When ordering, it's polite to be patient and respectful, and learning a few basic Filipino phrases can go a long way. Embracing the local custom of sharing dishes is also a great way to experience a wider variety of flavours.

Local Etiquette & Safety in Tejeros

Understanding local customs and etiquette is key to a respectful and enjoyable visit to Tejeros. Filipinos are known for their warmth and hospitality, and a polite demeanor will be greatly appreciated. While tourist-facing areas are accustomed to international visitors, showing respect for elders and local traditions is important. For instance, using the right hand for eating or passing items, and avoiding pointing with a single finger (using the whole hand or a nod is preferred), are subtle but significant gestures of respect.

When visiting religious sites or more traditional areas within Tejeros, dressing modestly is advisable. This typically means covering shoulders and knees. Always ask for permission before taking photographs of people, especially in more rural or traditional settings. In public spaces, maintaining a calm and respectful attitude is appreciated, and loud or disruptive behaviour is generally frowned upon. Observing how locals interact can provide valuable insights into appropriate conduct.

Safety in Tejeros is generally good, especially in well-trafficked tourist areas and upscale neighbourhoods. However, like any major city, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings and take standard precautions. Keep valuables secure and out of sight, and be mindful of petty theft in crowded places. For transportation, using reputable ride-hailing apps like Grab is recommended for convenience and safety, offering transparent pricing. Familiarizing yourself with offline maps and essential travel apps can also enhance your sense of security.

In case of emergencies in Tejeros, the national emergency number for police and ambulance is 911. It's also advisable to have the contact details for your country's embassy or consulate in the Philippines readily available. For Filipino travellers, understanding the role of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and organizations like OWWA for overseas workers is crucial. Carrying travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and unforeseen events is a prudent step for all visitors to ensure peace of mind during their stay.

Reaching Tejeros from within the Philippines is most efficiently done via air travel. Major hubs like Manila (NAIA/MNL), Cebu (CEB), Clark (CRK), and Davao (DVO) offer frequent flights to the airport serving Tejeros, with journey times typically ranging from 1 to 2 hours. Direct flights are common, and booking in advance through Traveloka can secure competitive fares, often starting from around ₱3,000-₱5,000 for a round trip, depending on the season and booking time. The primary airport serving Tejeros is Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), with transfer times to the city centre varying from 45 to 90 minutes depending on traffic.

Navigating Tejeros is made convenient by its well-developed public transportation system. The Mass Transit System (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) are efficient for covering longer distances and avoiding traffic, with fares typically ranging from ₱15-₱30 (approximately $0.30-$0.60 USD) per ride. Buses and jeepneys offer more extensive coverage at even lower prices, though they can be more challenging for first-time visitors. The best time to visit Tejeros generally falls during the dry season, from November to April, when the weather is most pleasant with lower humidity and less rainfall. This period, however, also coincides with peak tourist season, meaning higher hotel prices and larger crowds. For travellers seeking a balance of good weather and fewer crowds, the shoulder months of May and October can be ideal. Understanding these seasonal shifts is crucial for planning your trip and managing your budget effectively.

Before departing for Tejeros, ensure you have the local currency, Philippine Peso (PHP), on hand for immediate expenses, though major credit cards are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, and larger establishments. Purchasing a local SIM card at the airport is highly recommended for affordable data and communication. Essential apps to download include Google Maps for navigation, Grab for transportation, and a reliable translation app. Confirming any specific entry requirements beyond your passport is also a vital pre-departure step.
