Room is big and clean! TV has Netflix and Viu available, which I really like. Also, shower has hot water. One downside, which is temporary and not the hotel's fault, is the ongoing construction of the street. But everything else is commendable! Still would love to stay here again!

We initially planned for an overnight staycation, but we were so happy with the accommodation and the hotel services that we ended up staying 4 days and 3 nights total! The room and bathroom were clean, refillable water is readily available on each floor, and in my opinion, the rates are such a steal for a 5-star hotel. The staff were super helpful and extra friendly towards our 3-year-old toddler. Needless to say, we will be back real soon!

My partner and I stayed for one night at Red Planet Amorsolo Branch in Makati, and it continues to be our favorite hotel whenever we visit the area. This was actually our fourth time booking this branch, and each stay has been consistently pleasant. One of the things we really appreciate about Red Planet Amorsolo is its excellent location. It’s conveniently situated near restaurants, convenience stores, and key spots in Makati, making it very easy to get around. Whether you’re visiting for a quick trip or a short staycation, the accessibility of the hotel is a big plus. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Even though the space is simple, it has everything we need for a relaxing stay. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the hot shower was great after a long day outside. We also appreciate how quiet and peaceful the environment is, which helped us rest well. Another highlight is the friendly and accommodating staff. Check-in and check-out were smooth and hassle-free, which we always value when staying at a hotel. Overall, Red Planet Amorsolo Branch remains our go-to place in Makati. Because of our consistently good experiences, we will definitely continue booking here for our future visits.

Singkamas, as a microcosm of the Philippines' rich culinary heritage, offers a delightful array of flavours that are sure to tantalize the taste buds of international visitors. The region is renowned for its adobo, a savory dish of meat braised in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns, and sinigang, a sour and savory soup, often made with tamarind broth. Beyond these national staples, Singkamas boasts its own local specialties, influenced by regional ingredients and cooking styles, providing a unique gastronomic journey that distinguishes it from other destinations within the Philippines.

For an authentic taste of Singkamas, exploring its local markets and food streets is a must. Areas like Poblacion are emerging as culinary hotspots, offering everything from bustling street food stalls to trendy cafes and international restaurants. For Muslim travellers, finding Halal-certified eateries might require a bit more research, but many establishments are becoming more accommodating, and dedicated Halal restaurants can be found with some effort, particularly in areas with larger Muslim communities or through specific online searches. The presence of Puregold Makati also signifies areas with accessible local produce and food stalls nearby.

The cost of dining in Singkamas offers excellent value for international travellers. Street food can be enjoyed for as little as ₱ 50-100 (approximately $1-2 USD), while a meal at a mid-range restaurant typically ranges from ₱ 300-800 (around $6-16 USD) per person. Upscale dining experiences can cost upwards of ₱ 1,500 (about $30 USD) per person, but still remain competitive compared to similar offerings in Western countries. This affordability allows visitors from the US, Europe, and India to explore a wide variety of culinary options without significant budget strain.

When dining in Singkamas, embracing local customs enhances the experience. While tipping is not mandatory, a small gratuity of 5-10% for excellent service is appreciated. Meal times are generally similar to Western schedules, with lunch around noon and dinner from 7 PM onwards. It's common to share dishes, and many restaurants offer family-style servings. Learning a few basic Filipino phrases like "Salamat" (Thank you) can go a long way in showing respect and appreciation for the local hospitality.

Cultural Norms and Staying Safe in Singkamas

Understanding local customs is key to a respectful and enjoyable visit to Singkamas. Filipinos are known for their warmth and hospitality, often greeting visitors with smiles and a willingness to help. However, it's important to be mindful of certain social norms, such as avoiding direct confrontation and maintaining a polite demeanor. Public displays of affection are generally more subdued than in Western cultures. When visiting homes or more traditional establishments, it's customary to remove your shoes before entering.

When visiting places like Puregold Makati, maintaining a respectful attitude is appreciated. While it's a commercial hub, it's also a place where locals shop and socialize. Dress modestly, especially when visiting religious sites or more conservative areas, though in commercial districts like Puregold, casual attire is generally acceptable. Photography rules can vary; it's always best to ask permission before taking pictures of people or specific displays. Queuing is generally observed, and patience is a virtue, especially during peak hours.

Singkamas, like any urban centre, requires a degree of caution to ensure a safe and pleasant trip. It's advisable to keep valuables secure and be aware of your surroundings, particularly in crowded areas. For transportation, using reputable ride-hailing apps like Grab is recommended for safety and transparent pricing. While taxis are available, ensure the meter is used. For international travellers, having offline maps and essential contact numbers readily accessible on your phone can be invaluable for navigation and in case of emergencies.

In terms of emergency preparedness, it's wise to know the local emergency numbers for police and ambulance services. For travellers from the US, UK, India, or Africa, having the contact details for your respective country's embassy or consulate in the Philippines is crucial. These can provide assistance in various situations, from lost passports to legal matters. For Filipino travellers, understanding the role of the DFA and OWWA can be beneficial for support and guidance. Purchasing comprehensive travel insurance is also highly recommended to cover unforeseen medical expenses or travel disruptions.

Getting to Singkamas and Getting Around

Reaching Singkamas is a straightforward process for most international travellers, with numerous flight options available into the Philippines' main international gateways. From Manila (NAIA/MNL), Cebu (CEB), or Clark (CRK), you can secure connecting flights or onward travel to the airport serving the Singkamas region, typically Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila. Direct flights from major hubs in the US, Europe, and India are common, with flight durations varying from 10-15 hours for the US and Europe, and around 4-6 hours from India. Upon arrival at NAIA, travellers can easily book flight transfers or take a taxi/ride-sharing service to Singkamas, with the journey usually taking 45-60 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

Navigating within Singkamas and its surrounding areas is an adventure in itself, offering a variety of transport options to suit different budgets and preferences. The most efficient way to travel between key districts is often via the metro rail system (MRT and LRT), which is affordable and bypasses road traffic. Taxis and ride-hailing services like Grab are widely available and offer convenience, especially for direct routes or late-night travel. For a more local experience, jeepneys and buses ply various routes, providing an economical way to see the city, though they can be crowded and require some familiarity with the routes.

The best time to visit Singkamas generally falls during the dry season, from November to April, when the weather is pleasant with lower humidity and less rainfall. This period coincides with peak tourist season, meaning higher hotel prices and more crowds, particularly around Christmas and New Year. For travellers from the US and Europe, this aligns with their winter holidays, while Indian travellers might find the shoulder months of November and February to be ideal for avoiding both the heaviest crowds and the most intense heat. The wet season, from May to October, offers lower prices and fewer tourists but comes with the possibility of heavy downpours.

Before embarking on your journey to Singkamas, a few pre-departure preparations will ensure a smoother trip. The local currency is the Philippine Peso (PHP), and while USD is accepted in some tourist-oriented establishments, it's best to exchange currency for local transactions. Purchasing a local SIM card at the airport or in the city provides affordable data and call services, essential for navigation and communication. Downloading essential apps such as Google Maps, Grab, and a translation app will be highly beneficial. Ensure your passport has at least six months of validity beyond your intended stay.

Visa Information

For Philippine passport holders planning to visit Singkamas, the good news is that as they are already citizens of the Philippines, no visa is required to travel within the country. This simplifies travel immensely, allowing for spontaneous trips and easy exploration of regions like Singkamas. The primary document required is a valid Philippine passport, which should ideally have at least six months of validity remaining from the date of entry, though for domestic travel, this is less strictly enforced than for international journeys.

While no visa is needed for Filipino citizens, it is always prudent to carry identification, such as a driver's license or national ID, alongside your passport. Proof of onward travel or accommodation bookings are generally not required for domestic travel but can be useful in certain situations. The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) advises all citizens to ensure their passports are in good condition and have sufficient validity for any travel, even within the Philippines, to avoid any potential issues.

Given that Singkamas is a region within the Philippines, and the target audience is Filipino travellers, the visa information primarily pertains to domestic travel. For any international travellers planning to visit the Philippines to reach Singkamas, they would need to check the specific visa requirements for their nationality entering the Philippines. This typically involves checking with the Bureau of Immigration of the Philippines or the nearest Philippine embassy or consulate in their home country. It is always recommended to confirm the latest regulations before booking any book flight or accommodation.

Room is big and clean! TV has Netflix and Viu available, which I really like. Also, shower has hot water. One downside, which is temporary and not the hotel's fault, is the ongoing construction of the street. But everything else is commendable! Still would love to stay here again!
