Lombok International Airport is at Tanak Awu in Central Lombok Regency, a few kilometres from the town of Praya and south of Mataram, the provincial capital.
Its official name is Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport. Its codes are LOP (IATA) and WADL (ICAO).
The airport opened in 2011, taking over all flights from the older Selaparang Airport in Mataram.
Yes. AirAsia links Lombok with Kuala Lumpur, and other international routes operate from time to time alongside frequent domestic flights.
Carriers serving Lombok include Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air, Batik Air, Citilink and AirAsia, with key routes to Jakarta, Denpasar, Surabaya and Kuala Lumpur.
DAMRI shuttle buses run to Terminal Mandalika in Mataram and on to Senggigi. Metered taxis and hotel transfers are also available outside arrivals.
Travel by road to the northwest coast of Lombok and continue by boat. Allow plenty of time between your flight and your boat departure.

Lombok International Airport is the main entry point to the island of Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. It opened in 2011 and replaced the old Selaparang Airport in Mataram, which was too small for modern jets. The airport is officially named Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport, though most travellers and airlines still simply call it Lombok Airport.
You will find the airport at Tanak Awu in Central Lombok Regency, only a few kilometres from the regency town of Praya. That puts it south of Mataram, the provincial capital, and much closer to the island's southern coast than the old airport was. The Mandalika resort area and the surf beaches around Kuta Lombok are among the nearest tourist spots.
Everything runs through one passenger terminal handling both domestic and international flights. An expansion enlarged the building to roughly 43,500 square metres and lifted its capacity to about 7 million passengers a year. Several of the boarding gates have jet bridges. Inside you will find the usual mix of food outlets, shops, prayer rooms and ATMs.
A wide range of Indonesian carriers fly here, including Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air, Batik Air and Citilink, with frequent links to Jakarta, Denpasar and Surabaya. AirAsia connects Lombok with Kuala Lumpur, which is the island's best-established international route. Other international services come and go by season, so it pays to check the current timetable.
DAMRI runs public shuttle buses from the airport to Terminal Mandalika on the edge of Mataram, with services continuing to Senggigi on the west coast. Metered taxis from established companies and official airport taxis wait outside arrivals, and many hotels offer transfers. For the Gili Islands, travellers usually head to the northwest coast by road and continue by boat.
From the airport, the beaches of Kuta Lombok and the Mandalika area are close by, and the circuit there hosts MotoGP races. Further afield, the Gili Islands are a favourite for snorkelling, while trekkers come for Mount Rinjani, the island's volcanic peak.
If you are connecting to a fast boat for the Gilis, leave plenty of buffer time, as the drive north takes a while. For international departures, arrive at least three hours early. During big events at Mandalika, the airport gets busier than usual, so book ground transport ahead.
