The Queens Hotel

We had a lovely 2 night stay everything we needed and central to the town would recommend this hotel

The room and bathroom were disappointing. I emailed the reservation manager as soon as I saw the room and expressed my disappointment. Two days later and checked out of the hotel I’m still waiting for an answer.

The hotel was great, the rooms were really comfortable. The staff were super helpful and couldn't do enough for you

What was good: Excellent for train travellers who can walk straight into the hotel from the station. Courteous staff. Clean smallish size room. Breakfast - average, very polite staff. Scope for improvement: Telephone answer time was very long on most occasions. In spite of 3 terminals, there were only one staff during check-in and this caused a long queue/delay. No access with car - not even to drop off the luggage. Unsure how someone with special needs would manage. Wall mounted toiletries - Soap in shower ran out on the first day and on the hand basin area on the 3rd! The former was replenished on request but not the later! The shower enclosure leaked water on the floor needing sealant on the next day! The area right next to the main entrance and around the streets could feel a little off-putting late in night at times, although this never ended up in any incident! Overall - Average. Will I stay here again: if travelling by train - may consider. However, will definitely look at alternatives!

Another lovely stay at The Queens Hotel, whether you drive or travel by train it is easy to get to. Parking at the train station carpark is reasonably priced and a short walk away there is a 20% discout if you show your key catd wallet.

The hotel was lovely the only thing we can complain about was we was kept awake most of the night by other hotel guests shouting swearing from midnight till 5am

Second time saying at The Queens Hotel and a lovely experience as usual. The staff is incredible and the hotel is fabulous. Can’t ask for more central location than right next to the train station. Modern facilities and spotless. I honestly don’t have anything negative to say about The Queens.

Hotel location is great for the station and city centre, were given an upgrade to a city view on 5th floor. Didn’t really hear the Saturday night noise from outside but was woken by a dog barking in the corridor. Staff very friendly on reception.

I can’t fault the staff and service at all. The room however was slightly lacking. There is only one mirror in the room which is located in the bathroom. This proved a major problem when I was drying my hair as I could not see what I was doing as the plug socket is in bedroom and does not reach far enough to be able to see. A full length mirror would also be helpful. Maybe on the inside of the wardrobe due to space. Hand soap was not provided either so when washing our hands we had to go into the shower to use the body wash. These are attached to the wall so not ideal. The room was immaculate so could be perfect with a couple of minor adjustments.

Staff were amazing, room was very comfortable and its right next to the trsin station. What more could you ask. Would definitely stay again.

Central location. Good clean hotel.

Seamless checkin and got room a couple of hours before we were due to check in. Dirty pillowcase looked like it had been stood on.

Soundproofing in the rooms wasnt great but otherwise everything else top notch

First time here. Lovely looking hotel. Check in was quick but wasn’t really shown where to go by staff. Found the lift but wasn’t explained about needing our card to scan for lift to go up. Messing for a while before a lady explained what to do. Room was on the front and yet was extremely quiet. Perfect as next to train station. Breakfast was great and waiting staff were polite and helpful. Would definitely stay again

Friendly check in, we called in early to see if we could leave our bag but was told they had some rooms ready so could check straight in which was great. What wasn’t so great was I had booked an upgrade to king size city view, but someone in the booking process this hadn’t been picked up. Room ok though a little worn about paintwork etc. bathroom tiny.
