Occidental Cozumel - All Inclusive

It’s a great little quiet resort with exceptional care taken to the grounds. Be prepared though the water may not be crystal clear as you are used to on Cozumel. It changes there depending on when you go due to the location on the island.

Breakfast and the restraunts were great!

Check-in was quick and easy, but the information about dinner reservations wasn’t very clear. We were able to make two dinner reservations on our second day and were initially told we couldn’t book any additional ones. However, when we returned another day, we were able to secure two more. The rooms were clean, and the air conditioning worked well. The property itself was quiet, and the beds were comfortable. Boats can pick you up directly at the pier, which is very convenient. The location is also great—close to snorkeling, fishing, diving, beach clubs, and ATV excursions. The beachfront pool, beach, and designated swimming areas were all nice. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. One note: I wouldn’t recommend spending time on the timeshare presentation. It takes too long for the level of discounts offered. The food was hit or miss, but there’s an Alberto’s nearby that’s a good alternative.

The room was spotless upon arrival, and the housekeeping team refreshed our towels daily. Every staff member we interacted with was welcoming, especially the waiters from Coral restaurant Joni Miguel, Miguel jefe de bares, Sergio, Luis. who provided us an excellent service, super friendly and responsive. The buffet overall has an amazing delicious options and hot dishes like made-to-order eggs. It gets busy around 9 AM, so go early to beat the crowd. The colonial style is beautiful throughout the resort with beautiful scenery, vegetation and views. We thoroughly enjoyed very much our stay and planning to come back in the near future.

I enjoyed breakfast and the staff Julio or I’m sorry it might’ve been Juan was amazing. Quickly recognized me no exactly my preferences he would immediately bring me coffee and a champagne cocktail every morning right on time. He was very attentive and kind to me. This is also true of others that were present at breakfast. I actually look forward to going to breakfast just to be in the company of people who honestly cared about my vacation my time and my wants. Needless to say it was five star by all measurable means.

Great place

Beautiful property. Setup was perfect. If you're a beer drinker, just know it's only Heineken and DosXXs. They do provide Tecate light for the rooms, but Dos seems to be the beer of choice there. My family of four had a great time, not many activities for the littles, but luckily they love the ocean and the beach, so we were good. One of the of the only properties on this side that actually has their own private beach. Cozumel is separated by private beach clubs, and we were lucky to find a resort that has an actual beach with native sand..

The property was amazing. I did not enjoy the food as much as other properties we have stayed at. We did not get to eat at any of the main restaurants on the property due to having to have long pants for dinner. And a large party was difficult to make reservations Very unfortunate

The hotel is run down and I would not give it more than a 3 star. There is no beach, the pools were dirty and the food at the buffet was absolutely awful. It was uncomfortable, no fans, no air, missing utensils, bad service along with little selection but especially just mediocre quality and taste of food. This hotel is in dire need of help!!

It was a great experience!

Property was well maintained very well maintained. The staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Food was great. Everything exceeded our expectations. Very peaceful and quiet, we never had to wait in line for anything. Strongly recommend the resort.

We enjoyed the Royal level. The food was fine for an all inclusive resort. We are divers, so we dont expect much.

I would say the food was average. Michael and Maria on the front desk were so helpful and kind. The maid for our room was excellent. Overall the Hotel is so pretty and staff kind and courteous. Entertainment every evening. Easy to hire rental car from Hotel. Recommended.

The air conditioning didn’t run cool enough. The refrigerators were not cool at all. The maids were good and very clean though a bit slow to clean the rooms. The food in the buffet was down right awful. The restaurant s food was very good but we could only book 3 days at a time, then had 2 go to the buffet 2 days. Awful. The seafood buffet for lunch was very good. The spa was super. We go to Cozumel to dive and the dive shop was awful. The guides had a special way of diving so no flexibility. We did not enjoy it at all . We have been diving at Cozumel for 13 years, a couple times of year. We have never had an experience like this.

There were many things about my stay which were not quality hospitality. The dive shop is poorly run. The AC in my room never worked properly. They sent someone once and declared it fixed, though there was no change. The ice machine in our building did not work and the maintenance man who came to fix my AC said it had not worked in quite awhile but told me to just go to another building to get ice. The filter on the swimming pool did not work - the pool was a mess of floating dirt and insects. The check in was horrible since there is no AC or fans in that area. I asked for something cold to drink for the first 20 minutes of check in. (It should be brought immediately to new clients checking in!) There was no food available to hungry travelors checking in at 3:30, as not one of the restaurants keeps hours all day! (No food available anywhere until 6pm once lunch closes at 2.) We could not get a dinner reservation at one of the three A la carte restaurants until the third night of our stay, yet you cannot make reservations before check in. We were stuck in the main dining room (buffet only), which is not air conditioned, and the food is very sub par. The week at the Occidental was abysmal. Many things are promised, but there is absolutely NO follow through. The people in desk and managerial positions need to speek much better English. Those that do promise to attend to problems brought to their attention and then do absolutely nothing.

Great staff, fun activities, clean resort and great weather.

If you plan to stay at this resort, I highly recommend renting a car for your stay. If you don’t, you will be at the mercy of various aggressive salespeople who will quote you wildly different and inflated prices for any activities you might want to do in order to offer you ‘discounts’ if you agree to sit through the vacation club presentation. You will lose hours of your vacation to this harassment and will be subjected to some pretty nasty attitude if you dare to point out that their 30K (plus per person ‘food’ charges every trip) price tag for 25 years of vacations isn’t at all the amazing deal they claim it is. The resort grounds are beautifully maintained and the staff are wonderful - except for the front desk workers and the aforementioned salespeople. The beach has eroded a great deal but the sand is still nice and the water clear. However, this property is located at the end of a line of resorts along the same beach and is adjacent to a nature park which is home to crocodiles. The only reference to this danger are very small signs about wildlife at the edge of the beach. In early April, a guest was brutally attacked by a crocodile in the water in front of the resort. I found out about this just before our trip but we had already booked so I couldn’t change to a different hotel. I watched many couples wander off down the beach towards the park and no one from the staff warned them. The food is bad - the worst I’ve had at any resort I’ve stayed at.
