The gentleman on reception on the night of 5th July was very friendly and welcoming and was keen to engage in conversation which was nice. We were worried about checking in after the allotted time due to a concert which finished late but this was of no issue whatsoever. He advised us that unfortunately no food was served there but pointed us in the direction of a nearby takeaway. As we didnt arrive until 1.30am we literally just used to room to sleep, which I did very easily. The double private room we were given was basic which is all we beeded, but very spacious which was lovely. It also had a very spacious en suite with shower. The location was about a 20 minute walk from where we we parked in the Q-Park mailbox carpark on Royal Mail street, although I would probably just advise getting a taxi there as it's only about £6. The only negative would be that the girl on reception the following morning wasn't very friendly and seemed a little abrupt. She wasn't helpful at all either, when we asked if she had any local taxi firm numbers she just said no I don't but you can use Uber. I was quite surprised that sheb was so unwilling to help. Obviously if we used Uber services we would have no need to ask, but we do not use them or the app, hence why we needed a number for a taxi firm. She just left us to sit in the lobby area whilst we looked for a number online outselves. Maybe it would have been helpful to have a list of phone numbers for reputable taxi firms at reception.

Due to a problem at passport control in Birmingham Sunday Airport I missed my connections to return to Bournemouth without having to pay extra so I decided to pay £20 to stay the night in Livery Street. Same hostel more upgrades and another name.

The rooms are very good. However, the common areas, especially the kitchen and "dining room" are neglected. A single small fridge is simply not sufficient for this number of rooms. Asking 3 pounds for the luggage room is also quite rare...

I ahve stayed in many hostels around the world and this was definietly one of the worst. Room and bed were comfortable but the shared bathroom (which was not clear at the time of booking) was disgusting, the lock on the toilet was broken and despite me mentioning it to two members of staff nothing was done across the three days I was there. On the Saturday morning I went to use the bathroom to find it covered in urine. The walls were paper thin which meant being kept awake as people came back from evenings out but also by the incredibly noisy cleares first thing in the morning. The walk from the center to the hostel felt unsafe due to the underpasses and large amount fo homeless people on route. The price was only slightly less than the hotel around the corner whihc also offered breakfast. I will definitely not stay here again.

From check-in, the customer service was poor. The room was dirty, stains on the walls and ceiling. No openable window for fresh air, and a broken fan provided. Bedside lamp broken, no towels provided as standard. Don’t be fooled by the photos, this is one of the worst rooms you can stay in.

This is not a economical 'boutique' hotel - it's just a broken down hostel that's trading on flattering outdated pics and reviews, and hiding info in small print (or nowhere at all) to 'Ryanair' extra money from its guests. Like a Tinder fraudster, the pics for this hotel are VERY old. Looks lovely online, but the reality is peeling paint, walls with holes in them, one dirty crumbling shower cubicle and a broken, littered, toilet for a dozen rooms, and hidden costs they only tell you about when you arrive. The staff are pleasant, but must struggle under the weight of disappointed residents and lack of upkeep from the hotel company, We were tricked by fake pics and reviews that date back to the previous more-careful owner (Selina Hotels); and dynamic pricing - paying almost £130 for a room that's normally around £50 (because it was a peak weekend in Birmingham).
