I stayed at the Leonardo Royal Hotel from 19 to 21 September and had an appalling experience despite the hotel’s decent location and appearance. I extended my stay specifically to relax after a concert and a few hectic weeks, but instead endured abysmal customer service. On Saturday, I spent most of the day calling room service, at least 7 times, and only once did anyone answer. Reception promised a callback, but none ever came. Paying premium rates to waste my day chasing staff completely ruined my stay. I complained in person and was told I could call reception directly, yet once again no one answered. When I finally managed to order food around 5pm, I was given a glass bottle without an opener. Later, I left my tray outside as instructed and it remained there until the following day. A staff member even visited my room at 9pm, saw the tray, and ignored it. This disregard for cleanliness and hospitality is unacceptable. Instead of resting, I left stressed, frustrated, and regretting ever booking here,. The service fell far below expectations, and I would never recommend this hotel

Overall, an OK stay. However, the hotel is directly over some nightclubs and the noise and the shaking kept me and others awake until 3:30/4:00 AM.

All in all the hotel catered for all our needs, although being in a very lively area, we stayed on the 7th floor and managed to get a good nights sleep with very little noise heard from our room. The hotel is close to plenty of restaurants and bars, and is within 10mins walking distance of the shops and bullring. The staff we interacted with were very friendly and approachable.

Great service at check in. Clean room with good tea and coffee facilities. The buffet breakfast was great. There was a good selection of cooked food items. The coffee was lovely too. Location wise, the hotel is well situated and about a 15 minute walk from Birmingham New Street train station. The hotel is pretty close to the library, bars and a few of restaurants. There is also a Five Guys about 5 minutes away. If you need a Sainsbury’s local or a Tesco local they are also within a 5 minute walk away too.

Everything was great apart from breakfast. I’ve never seen a more badly run operation. Not sure if you were understaffed or if it was poor management Either way there were no clean tables and no mugs or glasses. The restaurant literally looked like a bomb site. Zero stars for that.

The hotel is located on broad street so very useful for weekend party goers, having said that we felt comfortable as a family to stay here. They have a separate hotel car park but do not give any discount for people staying in the hotel which for me is a big let down. I am not saying it should be free but a discount should be given for parking. The facilities are acceptable. We were not re filled any coffee pods or milk for the second night. The lounge is a nice place to unwind. Staff were variable from friendly to ‘just doing the job’. It’s a good property but extra money you pay for a better experience is lacking.
