Positives - checking in was easy, we don’t arrive until after midnight so 24 hour desk was good. Bedroom was large. Bathroom seemed to have been renovated more recently than the bedroom. Was small, but clean. Location was perfect for what we needed it for, which was easy access to trams going to Albert Park for the F1.
Negatives - the bed was absolutely terrible. Hard and springy, probably one of the worst beds I have experienced in a hotel. After 2 nights of next to no sleep and a sore back, I ended up having to spend money on a mattress topper at Big W just to make it bearable. Also, the shower seemed fine the first 2 days, good pressure and temperature. But the last 2 days we were lucky to get a lukewarm shower, despite running the hot water for 10 minutes waiting for it to heat up. At first I thought maybe it was due to us have showers during ‘high volume’ times, but I experienced the same issue at 4am - so that theory went out the window.
Overall, I would not agree that this is a 4 star hotel. We were there over F1 weekend, so prices everywhere were ridiculous everywhere, but I’m not sure how a hotel can justify charging $700 a night and then provide such poor beds and cold showers.
