Strand Palace Hotel

I'm very concerned with the sleeping quality that I can get in a hotel so this hotel is between 3 to 4 out of 5 for me. The bedding is very comfortable and the room is very decent and clean. The only downside is that the wall and door are really too thin, and that the hotel is busy with people in and out. The door when closed would create a loud noise capable of waking everyone up. You can hear the music and conversation of the adjacent room easily. Also, the cleansing staff, although having done a great job in cleaning, was really creating loud noise when they clean (including slamming the door of the cleaning room). Despite putting up "do not disturb" sign outside my room, the staff knocked on my door at 9:20a.m. just to confirm if I need housekeeping service. This is simply too annoying and stressful for a quiet enjoyment of the room.

Good location, rooms a bit small

They were able to check me in early, at noon rather than having to come back in the evening. My single room was way roomier than I imagined, clean and tidy. They also have a programme where they give you a bit of credit towards the bar or restaurant if you opt to skip housekeeping. The hotel is situated at a very convenient location, supermarket across the street, and tons of food options all around. All the major central London landmarks are within half an hour of walking distance, even Tate Modern.

Very clean room. Excellent location.

First room the window wouldn’t close (it was -4 outside and very noisy above the aircon system). Second room was an improvement but freezing, had to get assistance to reset the heating as it was still on air con and the tv wouldn’t work properly. Staff assisted but not with any real customer care or concern.

Hotellin paras puoli on erinomainen sijainti. Huoneet ovat kuitenkin jo selvästi kuluneet, ja äänieristys on heikko – sekä naapurihuoneiden että kadun liikenteen äänet kuuluvat hyvin sisälle. Keskustahotellissa tämä on osin odotettavaa, mutta vanhat ikkunat eivät juuri vaimenna melua. Aamiainen on melko vaatimaton: nälkä lähtee, mutta kokonaisuus ei tarjoa erityistä. Palvelu on asiallista, muttei mitenkään mieleenpainuvaa.

Excellent, in every way

We arrived early to leave our nags and did our pre-check in, all well,lovely staff. We were told we could come back just before 3pm and have access to the room. We arrived back at 4pm, to be told lir room wasnt ready and we would have to wait, not sure how lomg. The manager came and wasnt overly helpful, couldnt give us any timings or tell us why the room wasn't ready. Only when we expressed our disappointment and said we should have been able to check in at 3pm, did a different manager come to us and miraculously tell us our room was ready. Really not sure how it could go from not ready at all and over an hour late to ready in seconds once a small complaint was voiced. Just a bit of a disappointing start to our stay. Perhaps would have added breakfast to our stay had our check in been smooth. Also the view wasnt particularly inspiring when youve paid for a room with a view.

Noise in the room had to call maintenance at 1 in the morning to sort. Poor nights sleep

Booked a triple room via hotels.com, but when I arrived, no more triple room was available, had to take two rooms instead. Check-in took more than 30 minutes. Original booked room includes complimentary mini bar, had to follow up with the room service again to get it filled up. Other than that, everything was great.
