Planning a multi-city hop around Thailand, but haven’t figured out where to next? Phuket Airport’s got you covered. From here, you can wing it to Bangkok for a quick feed, escape to the mountains of Chiang Mai, or leave the country altogether and hit up Hanoi for a change of pace, or hop over to Singapore if you’re feeling flash. Prefer mountains over megacities?
It’s one of Thailand’s busiest airports, but it doesn’t feel like a circus. Just 33 kms from town, well-connected, and packed with cheap flights, it’s the perfect jumping-off point when you’re ready to escape but don’t want the stress.
If you’re chasing cheap flights, these spots regularly pop up with solid deals:
Flying international? You’ll be in Terminal 1. It’s modern, has decent duty-free, comfy lounges (Coral First Class and Premium), free Wi-Fi, charging stations, and the Coral Food Court to fuel up before your flight. Parking’s just outside, and there’s a free shuttle to the other terminals.
All domestic flights run from here. It’s smaller but easy to get around and has its own lounge: the Coral Executive. Terminal 2 is a good spot to chill if you're early. You’ve got food, drinks, Wi-Fi, and plenty of seating. There’s a handy car park and quick taxi access right outside too.
This one is used for charter flights. It’s not flashy, but it gets the job done. If you’re flying with a tour group or a charter-only airline, this is where you’ll likely go. It’s a 20-minute walk from the other terminals or a short shuttle ride.
There are plenty of ways to get to HKT, depending on your budget, time, and how much luggage you’re lugging:
Phuket gets packed from November to March, so flying then usually costs more. For better deals, try April or October (shoulder season), or any of the wetter months. Flying mid-week or outside peak hours helps too.
If you’re flexible with your travel dates, you can save a stack, especially by booking early and avoiding local or international holidays.
