Humberto Delgado Airport is Portugal's busiest airport and the main gateway to Lisbon. Compare airlines flying to and from Lisbon (LIS) on Traveloka and set a Price Alert to track fares before you book.
Officially named Humberto Delgado Airport and still often called Lisbon Airport or Portela Airport after the district it sits in, LIS is located around 7 km north of downtown Lisbon — one of the most centrally located major airports in Europe. It handled roughly 36 million passengers in 2025, making it comfortably the busiest airport in Portugal and a key connection point between Europe, the Atlantic islands, Africa and the Americas.
LIS offers both extensive short-haul European routes and longer-haul services, including strong links to Brazil and other Portuguese-speaking countries. Compare current routes and airlines on Traveloka rather than relying on a single carrier, as capacity and schedules vary by season.
TAP Air Portugal, the national carrier, uses LIS as its primary hub for both European and long-haul flights. The airport is also well served by easyJet, British Airways, Lufthansa, Air France, United and Delta, among many others, giving travellers a wide mix of full-service and low-cost options.
The airport has two terminals. Terminal 1 handles arrivals and the majority of departures, including TAP Air Portugal and most full-service international carriers, while Terminal 2 is used for low-cost departures only. Check which terminal applies to your airline before you travel, as the terminals are a short shuttle-bus ride apart.
The Lisbon Metro Red Line runs directly from the airport into the city centre, taking around 20–30 minutes with trains every 6–9 minutes and no traffic delays — one of the most convenient airport-to-city connections in Europe. Taxis and rideshare services are also available outside the terminals for those with heavier luggage. Verify current fares and journey times before you travel.
As Portugal's main airport, LIS offers a solid range of traveller facilities.
