Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is Arizona's main gateway and one of the busiest airports in the United States. Compare airlines flying to and from Sky Harbor (PHX) and set a Price Alert on Traveloka to catch a good fare before you book.
Sky Harbor (IATA: PHX) sits about three miles east of downtown Phoenix, making it one of the more centrally located major airports in the US. It's a genuinely busy hub — Sky Harbor served around 51.6 million passengers in 2025, its second-busiest year on record behind 2024's 52.3 million.
As American Airlines' largest hub and a Southwest Airlines focus city, Sky Harbor offers extensive domestic coverage plus a growing list of international routes.
Schedules and route availability change over time, so compare current options and confirm details before booking.
Sky Harbor is a major hub for American Airlines and a focus city for Southwest Airlines, with additional service from carriers including Alaska, British Airways and Condor.
Only two of Sky Harbor's terminals are currently active: Terminal 3 (John McCain Terminal) to the west and Terminal 4 (Barry M. Goldwater Terminal) to the east — the busier of the two and American Airlines' main terminal. Terminal 2 is no longer in passenger use. All passengers use Terminal 3 or 4, connected by the free, automated PHX Sky Train.
The PHX Sky Train also links both active terminals to the 44th Street/Washington Valley Metro Rail station, putting downtown Phoenix around 25 minutes away by light rail, with Tempe and Arizona State University about 15 minutes and Mesa further along the line. Taxis, rideshare and rental cars are also available at both terminals. Verify current Sky Train and light rail schedules before you travel.
Both active terminals offer a full range of dining, retail and lounge options, along with free Wi-Fi and charging points throughout.
