Rotorua Regional Airport (ROT)

About Rotorua Regional Airport (ROT)

Rotorua Regional Airport (ROT) serves Rotorua on New Zealand's North Island, handling around 220,000 passengers a year through a single modern terminal. The airport briefly had international service to Sydney from 2009, but that route ended in 2015, and ROT is domestic-only today.

Airlines and Routes

Air New Zealand is the only airline operating scheduled services from ROT, with regional flights to Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Where Flights from ROT Connect To

ROT is a feeder airport into Air New Zealand's main domestic network rather than a hub in its own right. For fares and schedules on specific routes, check Traveloka's dedicated flight pages, which cover route pricing in more depth than this overview.

Terminal

The airport operates from a single two-storey terminal with six gates, small enough that check-in and security are usually quick.

Getting To and From Rotorua

Airport shuttle services run regularly into central Rotorua, and taxis and rideshare are also available outside the terminal. Rental car desks are on-site for those exploring the wider Bay of Plenty region.

Facilities

The terminal has a café, a small bookstore and a conference room, in line with a small regional New Zealand airport. There are no lounges or duty-free shops.
