Newman Airport (ZNE) serves the East Pilbara mining town of Newman in Western Australia, primarily as a fly-in fly-out (FIFO) hub. Compare flights on Traveloka and set a Price Alert before you book.
Owned and operated by the Shire of East Pilbara, ZNE was built in the late 1960s alongside the founding of Newman itself, to support the Mount Newman Mining Co.'s iron ore operations. The airport sits around 10 km southeast of the town centre. ZNE is a domestic-only airport — there is no international service.
Newman Airport's only scheduled route is to Perth, operated daily. Most other traffic through ZNE is FIFO charter and light-aircraft activity supporting the region's mining workforce, rather than scheduled passenger routes.
QantasLink and Virgin Australia both operate scheduled services on the Newman–Perth route, alongside regular FIFO charter flights for mining operators in the region.
ZNE has a single, compact terminal building sized for a regional airport — check-in counters open 90 minutes before departure, with a baggage carousel in the arrivals hall.
There's no scheduled public bus service into central Newman — taxis are available outside the terminal, and several car rental companies operate desks on site. On-site parking is available for both short and long stays.
Facilities are deliberately basic for a small regional FIFO airport: toilets (including accessible and baby-change), an ATM, and Wi-Fi. Don't expect lounges, extensive dining, or shopping — ZNE is built for function, not for lingering.
