This place was so peaceful. The private balcony onsen and sound of the rushing water below was the ultimate relaxing getaway. The dinner and breakfast buffets were simply delicious. There were so many options and the tempura was perfect. We loved wearing the provided yukata down to dinner. The staff was also very helpful annd friendly. Our only regret was that we only stayed one night. I wish we could have stayed longer. Hakone Kowakien Yunessun entrance is accessible through a corridor from the hotel and is the perfect relaxing getaway. This was our favorite place of our entire 17 day trip to Japan.

Cannot recommend this place enough. Wish we stayed more than 1 night! free ice cream vending machine and lovely onsens that switch between men and women each day that are both gorgeous. Come here to relax, go on beautiful hikes and appreciate life. Plus the breakfast and dinner buffets were incredible with things like unlimited ikura, crab and streak! 119237272/10

Overall the stay was great (Room was good and meals were good too) except for the payment part. Our family stayed for 3 nights and Hotels.com had charged us already for 1 night before the trip. So we should only pay for 2 nights at the hotel after our stay. But they charged us for 3 nights. The reception officer kept saying that we needed to pay for 3 nights. After trying to reason with him, I spoke to the manager, who confirmed we only needed to pay for 2 nights. There was no apology for the mistake and if I didn’t insist that they check again and again, we would have been billed for 3 nights.

Very nice hotel with clean, modern architecture. The staff were nice, friendly, and attentive to requests. Although a bit pricey for the room rate, I highly recommend staying here if you ever come to Hakone, Japan

The ryokan was beautiful. The onsen was truly special with breathtaking views into the mountains and waterfall for the open air bath. The water really was different - made my hair silky smooth. The kaiseki dinner was also an experience I would definitely recommend trying! Beautiful presentation.

We loved our time at Ten-yu. So much that we came back a second time in 2 years. Everything in their facility is professional and cater to their clients. The breakfast and dinner buffets have a wide variety of quality cuisine. Both onsens are different, unique, and enjoyable. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We would definitely visit a third time!

We loved this property - so peaceful and relaxing! We were two adults with our two children (ages 10 and 13) and had a delightful time here. It’s a bit of a hike to get to, but was worth it 100%. Staff was very good. Visited the onsen twice and started to get the hang of it! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Everyone was so welcoming, the service from the moment we arrived was outstanding. The ladies came out of the hotel to help us check in, the hotel itself had so many great things available. Loved the free ice cream vending machine. Special thanks to Manna, he was so kind and accommodating.

It was one of my best hotel stays. It was expensive but it's totally worth it. You felt welcome the moment you stepped off the shuttle. Hotel staffs were great and attentive. The breakfast and dinner buffets were amazing, food quality and selection were all top notch.
Onsen on the 5th and 6th floor, got to try both of them to feel the different atmosphere. Foot spa at the main floor.
If you need privacy, tub and swing chair on your balcony is another option. Love everything, definitely will go back again!

Very beautiful area and grounds. We are new to onsens and noticed they even give an onsen orientation class. We ran out of time to use the pool but hear it is nice. The buffet dinner was robust but you must be aware that it is timed and drinks may cost extra. We enjoyed the options and were able to sample a lot of new foods. Staff were very helpful!
