After spending a busy couple of days in Tokyo it was great just spending a day here. It really helped us relax and reset. Although isolated the beauty of nature is gorgeous and there are activities to do. It was great that the bus stop was near by as myself and my friend only brought carry on bags. From the moment we arrived to our departure the staff were really friendly. I would com back to this location in the future.

Overall good stay, the garden was a high light to walk around at night. Ukulele class at hotel lobby was fun. Swimming pool, water park was packed. Hotel offered ice-cream machine for free and need to take a token from reception but we didn’t know until the day we checked out. Need to see the sign next to the machine, did not look as not too kin on sweet but my children love, wish we knew earlier or was given a token when check in would be more useful. Hotel off ¥5606 for food order as platinum member but was given a VIP lounge pass, it was nice but we do not drink alcohol, food was limited snack but no to our taste, spaces was full when we wen first evening. I prefer cash credit for food order in the future. Thanks

Ten-yu is a gorgeous hotel to stay at. The rooms are immaculate, the mountain views are incredible with some of the most beautiful sunrises I’ve ever seen, the food was pretty good, and the onsens were amazing. Getting around to lake ashi or Hakone was extremely easy also using public bus system which stops right in front of the hotel

Hakone Kowakien TEN-YU delivered exactly the kind of “only-in-Japan” immersion we were hoping for—arriving to find yukata waiting in the room, then wearing them to both dinner and breakfast made the whole ryokan experience feel authentic and fun. The entire property has a spa-like calm: steam rising from the open-air onsen, pine trees framing every window, and soft koto music in the halls. Staff were gracious to the last detail, guiding us through the kaiseki meal and making sure even our brief one-night stay ran smoothly. My only real regret is that we couldn’t stay longer; TEN-YU is the kind of place where you instantly relax and wish you’d booked another day just to soak, stroll, and repeat.

This property is absolutely incredible. The view alone is so soothing, but the highlight - hands down — is the hot spring bath (onsen). Please, do not miss it. Yes, you have to go in naked, but it's truly worth getting over any Western discomfort. The experience is surreal. They alternate floors daily between men and women, so you get to enjoy both the waterfall view and mountain view. And when I say waterfall view, I mean you are literally at the foot of a waterfall — it's breathtaking. Everything about the bath experience is 5 stars: the variety of hot and cold pools, the traditional Japanese showers, and the gorgeous vanity areas stocked with every skincare product you could ever need. Guests are also encouraged to wear traditional Japanese robes (yukata) during their stay, which instantly sets the tone and puts you in a peaceful, zen-like state. Pro tip: Book the dinner buffet in advance along with your room — it's half the price compared to purchasing it on-site. Both the dinner and breakfast buffets were excellent, with a wide and delicious variety. Guests staying at TenYu also get free access to the amusement park and water park in the adjacent hotel, connected by a tunnel. It's perfect for families! Although there's a full pool and water park, my kids surprisingly preferred the serenity of the hot springs. It was all so enjoyable that our 2-night stay magically extended to 3 and we’re coming back tmw to end our month trip with 3 more days there.

This hotel offers great view and situated in a quiet environment. We enjoyed our stay and outdoor hot spring there. The only drawback is that it could be a bit crowded in the eating area (buffet) depending on when you go there.

Really nice area, quiet and in nature. Enjoyed the public baths and beautiful sunrise from our room. Food could do with a little improvement, some dishes lacking in flavour but there were plentiful options.

Loved the private hot tub in the room. Hated that they didn't have room service or vending machines after the restaurant closed. We couldn't even get Uber Eats delivered; not much was open around the hotel.

Thanks

This place was amazing and we were so blessed with the best experience. The buffet for both dinner and breakfast were amazing, you can’t even imagine how grateful choices, and Onsen hot spring was fabulous view! Great amenities and excellent staffs. We will come back again soon.

Great facilities, relaxing views, well maintained, clean. The breakfast could be improved I can see they placed 70% of the same dinner food. Very few options for internationals.

Amazing experience with Ten-yu. We spent a few hours in the attached water park and enjoyed the private onset in the balcony. Free ice cream, tea and snacks in lobby was an added bonus. No need to even pack a bag- clothes, night dresses and all toiletries were complimentary.
