The room was basic but had everything we needed and was clean. Staff at the desk were friendly and helpful. There was loads of parking even though events were on

Listen! It's not The Ritz, but then neither is the price. For what we paid I couldn't have been happier. It's clean, you have everything you need. The food was good. We didn't get to make use of the spa unfortunately. But that's just gives me an excuse to return! Yes it needs a little update in places, but I feel it just added to the charming the place.

We arrived at hotel reception staff were polite bit not very informative. Didnt tell us where to go for breakfast and what times breakfast was. The property is very dated. It was clean but there had been a repair to the tiles in the bathroom. I think a two year old could of done a better job. We had an executive room which i still thought was basic. Room was very warm. Luckily we took our fan with us so would advise other visitors to do the same. Bed was comfy. We attended a wedding at this hotel. The bar staff were very slow and at times rude. My husband drinks jack daniels and ordered a jd and lemonade and he said the jd didnt taste like jd not sure if they had filled the bottle with a cheeper brand. Drinks were not badly priced to be fair. The bar staff ignored the very large queue of people waiting while they stood around chatting. Breakfast was ok once we had found where to go. The food seemed cheep. The bacon was good but the sausages were awful ( cheep) also the eggs had been out for a while and were solid.mushrooms were tinned not fresh. The fresh fruit bar was all tinned fruit nothing fresh. All in all the hotel was done cheeply from the repairs, furnishings and food. It could be an amazing hotel and wedding venue if money was spent on it. It needs a lot of work inside and out.

Firstly, 2-3 star only. Leisure facilities are extra. No ironing board. Executive Double room was ok. Carpets a little grubby. No bath towels but other towels available. No shower gel in bathroom. Shower in bath…old fashioned- with plastic shower curtain. No elegance or opulence about. Breakfast was ok.shame about fruit available-as was tinned peaches, tinned pear and tinned orange segments. Bloody awful. No fresh fruit available. Spend extra money elsewhere for better value. Out of 10 around,5.

Unfortunately the sink was cracked and we were given a small fan due to heat but was very clunky so had to turn off. It’s convenient but hugely dated. Staff were lovely though.

We chose this hotel because it was good value. Check-in was quick and, when we found our first room hadn't been cleaned properly, reception moved us immediately without any fuss. Unfortunately, the first room contained rubbish, a towel on the floor, and an unclean bathroom with an unflushed, stained toilet. The spa was disappointing. The hot tub was the highlight, but we were charged extra for towels and £5 for a locker, which wasn't made clear. The pool was very shallow, and the sauna and steam room were in separate male/female changing rooms, so couldn't be used together. The upstairs restaurant was closed and the downstairs bar food was mediocre. The biggest issue came the following morning when my partner suffered a medical emergency and needed an ambulance. The room phone wouldn't connect to reception, so I had to call the hotel using the website number. Even the ambulance crew commented on how unhelpful reception had been. After my partner left on a stretcher, I explained we'd return later for our belongings. Instead of any concern or flexibility, I was told I'd be charged another night's stay. There was no offer of a late checkout or any compassion. On returning my key, reception were dismissive and insisted I register my car again despite already giving my registration four times. Over 12 hours later, not a single member of staff has checked on us. The complete lack of empathy turned what should have been an average stay into a truly disappointing experience.

I stayed in the lodge which was excellent, the only fault was that of other guests slamming doors constantly through the night. Otherwise great clean tidy place to stop

From the outside the hotel looks lovely! You then enter the lobby which is grand and majestic, walk down the long Victorian corridors to get to your room thinking wow this place is stunning. And then you enter your room. Extremely outdated, the brass pipes on show have corrosion all down them and the bathroom was sub par clean. The sheets seemed clean enough to sleep on but didn’t want to take a shower as it was full of limescale. I appreciate there was a sign on the wall saying “caution floor slippery when wet” but there was no signs warning you of the scalding water that comes out the sink tap. You either had it scalding hot as hell or ice cold.. which in hindsight came in handy when I inevitably burned myself and another reason why I didn’t want to take a shower. For £70 a night it wasn’t worth the money and luckily I was only in the room for 6hrs tops (originally stayed as was attending a concert and would struggle to get home on the trains/tubes that late)! If I was going to be in the room for longer or have multiple days there I would have 1000% asked to change room, but for the sake of a few hours overnight I didn’t bother. Overall quite poor value for money and I wouldn’t stay here again.

I feel the breakfast is to expensive, I booked a room in the lodge. I know this is a budget room but the window doesn’t close and the room smelt of weed, the tv wasn’t plugged in or connected to the aerial. I know that sounds petty but I didn’t really expect to have to set a tv up when I got to my room. The internet wouldn’t connect so I was unable to carry out any online admin work. But on a good note - there was hot water and the shower pressure was good.
