Great room! So comfortable and clean and very dog friendly for our special family member. We didn’t use the bar or the dining apart from breakfast which felt a little isolated although the staff who served us were busy and short staffed. The staff though were really great and very welcoming

Only lacking a 5 star as the lift was out of order from the start to the end of the visit, not a problem for us but room was up multiple flights of stairs so would have been an issue for older guests.

Lift not working , no offer to take cases to the room up 3 flights of stairs Given a standard room having paid for a deluxe room . After an unnecessary conversation re what they call their rooms against Expedia , we were moved to the correct room

Comfortable and cosy room, a welcome oasis from the weather outside. Perfect central location and a great view out onto the market square. Well equipped, and with a good hot shower. All the staff we encountered were super-friendly, and it was an all-round nice and welcoming place to stay for a winter break.

The welcome at reception was off, the woman wanted me to be faster at finding my details (there was no queue) and proceeded to stand up so she could look over the top of my phone screen. She did this 3 times. Just odd. Our room was nice but the window did not close , so all night we were kept awake by a loud fan/extraction system on the restaurant roof directly next to our window. It wasn’t particularly windy outside but as the window didn’t close the blind banged against the window, I ended up pushing towels into the gap which reduced it a little. It also meant that side of the room was cold as there appeared to be no heating in the room. I asked about the gym, I was told ‘we don’t have a gym’ there are literally signs around the hotel saying ‘gym and spa’ - I assume it was under maintenance but the staff member didn’t both to explain that. Overall not great.

A complete disaster from start to finish. Upon arrival, I was told that they had no room for me, because "You have accidentally booked for the following night". When I produced the email confirmation that showed that not only HAD I booked for the correct night, but I had paid for the stay IN ADVANCE, the staff said "you're in luck! you can have very last available room!" As if I should be grateful that they had deigned to provide the service which I had paid for in advance, instead of APOLOGISING for THEIR mistake, which would have been the correct response. When I asked where their car park was, I was told that they didn't have one, in direct contradiction to what they had told me BEFORE making the booking. Then they asked for a credit card for incidentals, but refused to take Amex! What sort of hotel in a tourist town refuses to take Amex? I might point point that Amex seemed to be QUITE GOOD enough for them when taking the fee in advance. When we finally got to the room, it was not the great suite advertised by Expedia, but a rubbish little room above a pub with very definite "you can have very last available room!" Vibes - not what I had paid for - and continual noise from the pub directly underneath. Their WiFi password was a hint to "DontUseExpediaBookDirectWithUs". The only reason I STAYED with them is that they were suggested by Expedia, but I certainly won't do again. And if they don't like Expedia so much, why don't they just leave it?
