From when we first stepped off of the shuttle the staff were so welcoming and friendly. We loved everything about our stay. We got an upgrade to a lovely oceanview room. Building 17 was perfect. So close to the beach and the pool. We were very happy with all of the restaurants, including the buffet which I could have eaten at for every meal. The French restaurant was our favorite. The evening entertainment was so good every night. I will be honest that the seaweed is pretty bad but it is not just this resort it is everywhere along the coast. It is not the fault of the resort. They do let you know when you are checking in. A great tip I will give everyone is to take a $6/7 Uber to Puerto Morelos. The beach there is so beautiful and it was totally clear of seaweed. It is such a gorgeous little town too. I would highly recommend this resort and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

There is NO getting into the ocean. Property located off the beach but it is full of sargassum and Ocean Coral is not doing anything about it. They have a small plow clearing some over on the privilege side but still not enough to get in the water. The food was awful!! I got sick day 2 and probably lost weight during this trip! We were lied to about what the gifts we would get to attend their presentation, raccoon poop sat on the steps for a couple of days before it would be cleaned up, balls in the bowling alley kept getting stuck, tennis courts were down, we were given an “upgrade” to the 4th floor while the elevator was down for 2 days. They have you sign a waiver reference the sargassum before you have even seen it!!!! We were dooped by the reviews we read and don’t want to do that to someone else!! Beachfront property with NO beach access!!

The beach was unusable due to the amount of seaweed on the shore and there was no attempt to clean it up. So a beach vacation was spent in the pool rather than the ocean. The rooms were okay, and the fridge barely kept the drinks cooler than s step just below room temperature. Had to call maintenance to fix the toilet, which they did fix in a reasonable time frame compared to the broken phone that took 2 days and numerous requests over 2 days to be taken care of. The bathroom sink was barely draining by the end of the 7 day stay. Majority of the staff were unable to point out where to meet for particular scheduled activities. The locations for activities changed on a constant basis with hardly any notice and no signage. Reservations for the restaurants were supposed to be allowed via there app and were only available on the same day, but very few guests were successful and most had to visit guest services for assistance in getting the reservations set up. And lastly, the food was horrible and had almost no flavor or seasoning whatsoever. 4 out of 5 family members ended up sick any time we ate the food.

Avoid this place if you want to be treated fairly. Booking this location through Hotels.com was the topic and decision making factor in all of my stay at this location. We were treated as second class citizens because we didn’t book directly through the property. Amenities were promised on Hotels.com which because unavailable upon arrival at the hotel because we were “Expedia guests” Any time we asked for things like a dinner reservation which was told we entitled to, we were not granted. We watched the staff look up our name and then say “your reservation was through Expedia” followed by some lame excuse as to why the request couldn’t be completed. Additionally the air conditioning died in the middle the night and we were told we could not be compensated because again our room was booked through Expedia. It’s important to note we didn’t even know Hotels.com was Expedia. The breakfast buffet made us sick raw bacon and hot egg yoke at the omelet station we had to see the doctor for E. Coli when we returned to the states.

The food was terrible. For a Resort that is Mexican and the Mexican food is bad says it all. The drinks were also terrible. I knew what to expect as it is a Resort but didn't think it would be that bad. Also, it would have been nice to know that during this time of year the Algae is really bad to the point you can't enjoy the beach and the smell is terrible.

We bkd a Honeymoon Suite & anticipated a level of service/attention a similar accommodation would get on a cruise ship. Altho there was a butler and a large room, the level of service was not the same. This was almost definitely due to fact that we booked thru a 3d party, which was brought up time and again by the hotel staff & the salespeople trying to pitch a points program similar to time share. The suite itself was very dated and (literally) as far distant from the VIP Exclusive area of the resort (e.g. opposite end, near the kiddie pool!) as could be ... whilst renovated equivalent was clearly empty and available adjacent to Prestige Restaurant. We were told by butler on a daily basis that our restaur't choice was fully booked or only had very late hour availability... thus had NO Priority by virtue of paying for most expensive suite. Several of the restaurants were closed (presumably due to being off season), but not advertised as such & the beach was Totally Unfit For Use due to mountains of seaweed that was not being removed - simply left to rot (and stink) in large/deep piles. Thus, requiring a drive to a nearby town to access a clean beach. Room Service Disappointing: I ordered breakfast one AM & it came like UPBER delivers, in brown bag and plastic boxes +plastic fork! Staff, overall, very polite & tried to be helpful; food at buffet, generally okay to good, nothing special; Facilities, including pools, overall well maintained/clean & common areas updated.

Stayed for 3 nights and 4 days. Been in mexico twice stayed in different hotel reviera maya & barcelo maya both adult only -both hotels were different but amazing! choose ocean coral as we took out baby with us and needed family friendly hotel also took the whole family (first time in mexico) i think my expectation on this hotel ocean coral is same as both hotel we stayed in.. but this place is so outdated. let me start from the first day checking in greeted by nice bell boy offered juice, took like 1hr in half checking in frontdesk she was nice but process took so long plus there main office no AC or even just a fan it was very hot. Rooms were okay AC wasnt that strong as expected but they have a fan only thing is fan you cannot change the settings so when its on its on full blast which i had to turn in on and off because is so much for the baby, they provided us with crib which is great! but the fridge is broken it wasnt cold enough for the baby formula to store so i had to ask everytime for a wine bucket full of ice to put the formula so wont go bad - they sent someone to fix the fridge. No room services if you are not privelage - i would have a great option if u have a baby. as i see a lot review about how food weere good we werent really fun of their food at all had high expectation even their own tacos , mexican food which i have very high expectation as we are in mexico so dissapointed -also people were not too friendly at all. Overall, I would rate the hotel 3/10.

The problem for me was that the beach was full of seaweed; the hotel is supposed to clean it but doesn't. They really ought to disclose this at the time of booking, but unfortunately, they don't, and the photos posted online are misleading. Furthermore, the hotel charged me a fee for beach cleaning, yet the beach remained dirty; I couldn't swim or even sit there, which amounts to false advertising. While the rooms were clean and the service and staff were excellent, I had chosen this place specifically for the private beach and the chance to enjoy the surroundings—neither of which happened.
