Great location and nice to stay in such an historic hotel. The room was comfortable but lacked some of the modern amenities - although recently renovated. Only warm water at best in the shower. Breakfast was great as was the meal we had in the 1864 Restaurant. We would definitely stay there again as the overall experience outweighed the few negatives.

The attitude of the staff is mixed, reception were very helpful but in the patio bar rather indifferent- there is a danger of complacency as this is the grand historic hotel that is booked because of what it is. rather than fighting to maintain standards competing with the newer large group hotels nearby

Clean rooms and super friendly staff! Food is good too, although I did not try all the restaurants. Breakfast is elaborate and had good options.
The hotel in itself is very old what is charming when well taken care off. but at times the oldest parts of the building could need a better upkeep.
All in all - this hotel is great and i had a good stay!

This property is very run down and expensive for the price. The staff is great but I would look for a newer property or another colonial building which has been renovated.

Lovely restaurant for buffet dining with seating opening onto veranda and unobstructed Seaview. Excellent choice of food but often only like warm rather than hot. I don’t think they have the correct type of infra red heating lamps to keep the food hot.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. The worst customer experience I have ever had. The hotel manager does not care at all about the guests. They had a massive late night party with the music so loud that it was making the windows of our room shake. When this was flagged with the hotel manager he basically said I was lying and marched me up to my room. When he got there he realised how bad it was and relunctantly moved us to another despite originally saying there wasn’t any spare rooms. Even in the room we moved to we could still hear the music. Not a single apology and a smarmy grin on his face throughout the whole conversation - he’s an absolute whopper. The rest of the staff in the hotel were very nice & friendly but the arrogance & disdain showed by the management team ruined our experience of Colombo- AVOID AT ALL COSTS L.

Everything at the Galle Face was wonderful. The staff were so friendly and made our honeymoon extra special - beautiful room and a congratulations cake! We booked the honeymoon retreat spa treatment which was fantastic and incredibly relaxing. We thorough enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying again in the future
