Masai is located in the state of Johor, Malaysia. It is located on the east of Johor Bahru District. It is 25 kilometers away from Johor Bahru city center. Masai is located along the fishing village along the Johor River. Jalan Masai Lama and Pasir Gudang Highway are the 2 main streets used to access Masai.

Since Masai is one of the oldest cities there, many of the prewar buildings are still preserved until today. Most of the facilities in Masai town are dedicated to the people there who are mostly farmers and rubber plantation workers throughout the early and mid-20th century. Due to many transformations and developments, Masai is now one of the most popular towns in Johor.

Masai is in the south part of Malaysia. All of the populations speak Bahasa Melayu. It does not have a specific dialect spoken by them however they may have an influence of dialect from the state of Melaka or Selangor.

How to Get There

By Plane

One may take a flight to Johor Bahru Airport (JHB) from Kuala Lumpur. Then continues the journey via taxi or car to Masai. It takes around 31 minutes’ drive as they are 38.4 kilometers away from each other.

By Car

To drive to Masai, one should take the North South Highway (E2). By taking exit 256-Pasir Gudang toward Pasir Gudang/Kota Tinggi the road will lead to Masai. It takes around 3 hours and 8 minutes to complete the journey. It is 340.28 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur and Masai.

Tourist Attractions

One of the attractions that can be looked forward to when coming to Masai would be the Angry Bird Theme Park. It is a theme park based on the famous game Angry Bird. It has many kinds of physical activities such as Air Bag Jump, Space Drop Air Bag and Lazer Bird Scoot. The children who come here will definitely have a blast with the rides and activities offered here. Parents don’t have to worry as there is also a Parents’ Lounge. So parents may relax here while their children are off enjoying their time. There is also a snack café if one got a little hungry after all those vigorous activities there.

Komtar JBCC is also another attraction in Musai. It is a shopping mall that offers many kind of shops here. There are many parkings for the visitors and it is also located very strategically. The visitors can definitely purchase all their needs here all in one go.

Masai is not very far from Johor Bahru. Visitors can always drive to Johor Bahru to experience a faster paced city than return to Masai when they want to get a more relaxed condition. They will get the best of both worlds.

Also visitors should always try the local food such as Mee Bandung, Kacang Pool and Laksa Johor. It is a specialty that can only be found in Johor.
