Stulang Bahru is a residential area in Johor Bahru town, Malaysia. It is around 5 kilometres away from the city centre. It is made up of 2 main roads which are Jalan Stulang Darat and also Jalan Stulang Laut. Before it is a residential area that it is now, it used to be a fishing village opposite the Johor Straits. Now the area is made up of low cost flats, schools and some other residency properties. It also has a temple that is nearly 80 years old nearby Stulang Bahru. The royal palace of Johor Sultan, Pasir Pelangi, is also located here.

Stulang Bahru is in the south part of Malaysia. All of the populations speak Bahasa Melayu. It does not have a specific dialect spoken by them however they may have an influence of dialect from the state of Melaka or Selangor.

How to Get There

By Plane

One may take a flight to Senai International Airport from Kuala Lumpur. Then one may continue the journey via bus or car to the city of Stulang Bahru. It is around 28.62 kilometer away and should take around 28 minutes’ drive to reach the city from the airport. The fare may vary from RM35 to RM41 per trip.

By Car

To drive to Stulang Bahru, one may take the North South Highway. Drive along the highway towards Johor Bahru then Merge onto Jalan Pasir Pelangi. By driving further up north, one will find the Jalan Stulang Laut. The distance between Kuala Lumpur and Stulang Bahru is around 334 kilometres. The driving time on the other hand takes around 3 hours and 26 minutes.

Tourist Attractions

One of the main attractions in Stulang Bahru would be the Stulang Laut Beach. It is the attraction of the locals during the evening, weekends or during the holiday. It is nearby the immigration and customs complex. At night it has a beautiful view along Jalan Stulang Laut. The pedestrian walk is illuminated with lights along the way. Moreover Singapore’s light beam can be seen over across the waters. Every other month, water festival or international water festival is held here. It is for all levels including internation level. Among the contest that was held are International Speed Boat Contest, Water Scooter Contest, Fishing Contest and many more.

This beach is nearby a Duty Free Zone Shopping Mall. Therefore visitors may enjoy buying chocolates, perfumes, cigarettes and many other things duty free. It is definitely something that should be looked forward to when visiting to Stulang Bahru.

There is a lot of Food Court nearby the beach. Therefore it is highly advisable to have dinner under the moonlight by the beach. If during the day, visitors are looking for something more heavy to fill their stomach they may find Warung Batu that prepares Indonesian Nasi Padang. It is said to have the best curry there. There are also dishes such as Asam Pedas, ulam and many more. Stulang bahru may not be that big of a city however it still has several attractions that can only be know if it is asked to the locals only.
