The Jesselton Point or Jesselton Point Waterfront is formerly known as the Kota Kinabalu Ferry Terminal. Ever since its privatization in February 2006, the Jesselton Point has become one of the main city attractions in Kota Kinabalu.

The Jesselton Point is marked with the welcoming arch entrance bearing its name ‘Jesselton Point Waterfront’. Situated north of downtown Kota Kinabalu, the Jesselton Point offers the persona of historical feel with its themed olden days snapshots complete with the vintage red English phone booths settings.

The Jesselton Point serves as the main boat terminal for the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park and Gayana Island. It is also the only ferry terminal for Labuan-bound passengers. The ferry and boat terminal operates daily from 6am to 6pm. However, the waterfront keeps on running up until 2am.

The Jesselton Point is quite famous for an excellent place to chill and catch the breathtaking sunset view while sipping your favourite late evening beverages.

How to Get There

You may reach the Jesselton Point by hailing a taxi or getting on the public bus services from Wawasan Plaza Bus Terminal. Other transport options would be to rent a car, scooter or a motorbike.

Tourist Attractions

While staying in Kota Kinabalu, one shall find many activities that may suit for free time entertainment. Apart from visiting the Jesselton Point, for yet another insights of Sabah history, people may head out to the Atkinson Clock Tower. This clock tower has been denoted as the oldest standing structure in Kota Kinabalu.

If you happen to be spending your Sunday morning in Kota Kinabalu, do not miss the opportunity to visit the Gaya Street Sunday Market for only on Sunday, the length of Gaya Street is closed off to traffic to make way for this long generations-old family businesses fair. The market is open from 6.30 am to 1.00 pm. Shop for almost anything like local batik sarongs, fruits and flowers, arts and crafts, antiques and souvenirs, cakes and local delicacies, even pets and herbs.

For a mild, shopping experience, local shopping mall such as Suria Sabah is just a walking distance from the Jesselton Point.
