Lambir Hills National Park

Lambir Hills National Park is established in 1991 as Lambir Hills Forest Dynamics Plot from a cooperation between Sarawak Forest Department, Center for Tropical Forest Science of Harvard University, and the Plant Ecology Laboratory of Osaka City University. Located forty minutes away from the town of Miri, it is managed by the Forest Department of Sarawak, comprising 52 hectares of forest area in which all trees thicker than 1.5 centimeters at breast height have been measured, mapped and identified. A census of all trees in the plot found 1175 different species, making the national park possibly the park that has the highest diversity of trees of any forest in the Old World. There are also terrific waterfalls and bird-watching spots around for visitors.
