Mydin is a Malaysian chain of hypermarket, supermarket and emporiums. It is the largest hypermarket chain in Malaysia as a wholesaler and retailer. Mydin was founded in 1918 by Gulam Husen Jamal in the state of Penang. As he died, his son takes over his business and develops Mydin to a more successful level. The Tengku Tengah Zaharah Mosque is well known as Floating Mosque. It is the first real floating mosque in Malaysia. The mosque was officially opened in July 1995 by the late Sultan of Terengganu, Almarhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah.
