One of the most beautiful structures in the country, the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah mosque or better known as the Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah by the locals is located in Shah Alam, the state capital of Selangor, Malaysia. It is situated at Persiaran Masjid, Section 14, Shah Alam. The Blue Mosque is the largest mosque in Malaysia and was built from 1982 - 1988. The Blue Mosque is well known for having the world’s tallest minaret. When it was finished the minarets were the tallest in the world at 142 meters, now they have been surpassed by the Hanssan Il Mosque in Casablanca, Marocco. The height of the dome is 107 meters. Sunlight filtering through the blue stained glass of the mosque renders a bluish ambience to its interior, evoking a sense of peace and serenity. The mosque can hold up to 24, 000 worshippers at one time. The mosque is open for visitors. If you are visiting this mosque, there is a volunteer to show you around and explained things inside the mosque. Women are given a robe and a scarf during the mosque visit. The tour itself was free. At the end of the tour, you will be given a introduction to Islam and its view of how the world was created along with some information material.

How To Get There

The Blue Mosque is located in Section 14, Shah Alam, Selangor. Take Rapid KL bus number 63 or 338 from Kuala Lumpur and stop at the bus station near to the Maybank building in Shah Alam city centre. Then, take a metered taxi or Uber to the mosque area. The alternate way to reach the Blue Mosque is by taking the KTM Komuter train and disembarks at Shah Alam Station or Padang Jawa Station. Once again, you can take a metered taxi or Uber and you will reach the mosque in an estimated total of 10 to 15 minutes.
