Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel

Great greeting at reception, lovely friendly, lady who was knowledgable about the hotels history. Room was clean and comfortable. Great breakfast, which was cooked to order, good selection and a lovely guy

Room was good and staff good as well. Lots of noise directly outside the room in the morning and not a hugely comfortable bed. But did the job for one night

Great and helpful staff. Excellent location walking distance to pretty much anything you need. Overall, a quaint yet timeworn hotel. Highly recommended for short stays.

The hotel is centrally located. So great for a city visit. Lobby and reception were pleasant. Veronica the receptionist was lovely and very helpful. The on site parking has very limited spaces and cost £12.50 per night. Not detailed on Hotels.com website so an unpleasant surprise on arrival. . The lift was not working on my visit. The breakfast buffet £16 was good and catered well for.me as a Coeliac. Lots of Gluten free options. The room was clean fresh and tidy. Good shower and bathroon. But when you factor in the extra parking cost and breakfast the Hotels.com discount was not such a great deal as it seemed on Hotels.com site Not the Rougemonts fault surprise

There was no TV signal. No water or biscuits or room or Hotel info. Bar closed early even no tvs were working. Staff polite, room clean

Amazing value for money and very accommodating after a last minute change of plans meant we needed to add an extra guest to our room. The Rougemont hotel is beautiful, full of character and very conveniently located opposite Exeter Central station, but despite the location there was barely any road noise.

Reading the previous reviews, I feel like I had a case of bad luck!! 😭 Positives - The hotel is in a central location - literally a stones throw from Exeter Central station (30 seconds) and has such a grand reception area as you enter. The reception team were great in allowing my friend to enter the room prior to me paying as I was delayed due to accidents. Thank you for that Negatives - the room had no spare towels in the wardrobe as stated nor an ironing board. The latter not so bad because that is a quick call to reception; but on the third night, our room wasn’t cleaned as the hotel states although I had checked the day before if it would be. By the fourth night it was but we only had one more night there. On the morning of my checkout, I asked to leave my luggage there and had to pay £5!! The man at reception stated it is free on the weekends which is ridiculous but what is worse is that Jan 1 is a weekend and if I wasn’t running to catch a train for my hike, I would have stated that. I have never had to pay to leave my luggage at a hotel that I have stayed in and it didn’t help matters to find out that members of my hiking crew who also stayed there did not have to pay. It is unreasonable to have charged me and not even issue a refund for it. It put a massive dampener on the trip because I only stayed there because our hiking party was held there for NYE but after the service I experienced, I will look at alternative accommodation.

First time staying in a hotel into Christmas Day, great touches from the hotel, including a personal Christmas card in the room and fizz at breakfast
