It was a pleasant stay at the Wing Hotel. I stayed at the Wing Hotel Kualanamu Airport on July 14, 2026, and checked out on July 15, 2026. The hotel is close to the airport, and there is a shuttle bus service, which is free to and from the airport. I happened to take the 7:30 AM WIB shuttle bus to the airport yesterday. The distance from the hotel to the airport is about 10 minutes. The hotel staff was also very good and friendly. The hotel room was quite spacious, clean, and comfortable. Next trip, I will stay at the Wing Hotel Kualanamu Airport again.

I chose this hotel because I had an early flight the next day, so it was closer to the airport with good access. The hotel environment is very comfortable and beautiful, with a garden and jogging track, a spacious, cool field. There are many shops nearby, such as Indomaret, coffee shops, and food stalls. KFC is also available in the shophouse area. The staff are friendly, the cleaning staff, and the front desk were also very helpful when we had any room-related needs. Recommended hotel. Oh yes, there is also a free airport shuttle with departures at 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM.

Best Areas to Stay in Percut Sei Tuan

Percut Sei Tuan is not a monolithic entity; it's a region comprised of distinct neighbourhoods and districts, each offering a unique flavour and set of advantages for visitors. Choosing where to base yourself can significantly shape your overall experience, influencing your access to attractions, local life, and transportation. For international travellers, understanding these nuances is crucial for a fulfilling trip.

Percut Sei Tuan (Central Area)

The central Percut Sei Tuan area serves as the administrative and commercial heart of the region, offering a dynamic urban environment. This is where you'll find a concentration of local businesses, markets, and a lively street scene. It provides a genuine slice of Indonesian urban life, appealing to those who want to feel connected to the local pulse.

Within this central district, you can explore local markets for everyday goods and street food, and it's a good starting point for exploring the wider region. Proximity to the Maha Vihara Maitreya Cemara Asri offers a significant cultural draw. Getting to this area from Kualanamu International Airport (KNO) typically involves a taxi or ride-sharing service, taking approximately 45-60 minutes depending on traffic. It’s a practical base for those who value convenience and immersion.

Batang Kuis

Batang Kuis is a district that offers a more laid-back atmosphere, often characterized by its proximity to key transportation infrastructure, most notably Kualanamu International Airport. This makes it a highly convenient choice for travellers arriving late or departing early, or those who plan to use the airport as a hub for further travel within Indonesia or Southeast Asia. The vibe here is generally quieter than the main city centre, with a mix of residential areas and commercial developments catering to airport traffic.

This area is particularly suited for transit travellers or those seeking easy airport access. While it may lack the dense cultural attractions of other districts, its convenience is unparalleled. The presence of hotels like Wing Hotel Kualanamu Airport and d'primahotel Kualanamu Airport Medan highlights its role as a gateway. From here, you can easily arrange airport transfers or hire a car to explore further afield, making it a practical choice for efficiency-focused travellers.

Getting to Percut Sei Tuan and Getting Around

Reaching Percut Sei Tuan from the Philippines is most efficiently done via flights to Kualanamu International Airport (KNO), which serves the wider Medan area, including Percut Sei Tuan. While direct flights from Manila (MNL) or Cebu (CEB) are uncommon, travellers can find convenient connecting flights through major hubs like Kuala Lumpur (KUL) or Singapore (SIN). The total travel time, including layovers, typically ranges from 6 to 10 hours, with flight prices varying but often starting around ₱ 8,000 to ₱ 15,000 for a round trip. Booking your book flight in advance can secure better fares.

Once you arrive at Kualanamu International Airport (KNO), getting to Percut Sei Tuan is straightforward. For those exploring within Percut Sei Tuan and its surrounding districts, Grab remains a popular and affordable option for getting around. Local buses and angkots (minibuses) are also available for budget-conscious travellers, though they can be less direct and more crowded.

The best time to visit Percut Sei Tuan generally aligns with Indonesia's dry season, which typically runs from May to September. During these months, you can expect sunny days and lower humidity, making it ideal for exploring the region's attractions and enjoying outdoor activities. While the shoulder seasons (April and October) can offer fewer crowds and slightly lower prices, the peak season coincides with major holidays in Western countries and India, potentially leading to higher accommodation rates and busier attractions.

Before embarking on your trip to Percut Sei Tuan, a few pre-departure preparations are essential. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay. While the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) is the local currency, US Dollars are sometimes accepted in tourist-oriented establishments, though exchanging currency upon arrival is recommended for better rates. Purchasing a local SIM card at the airport or in town will provide affordable data access for navigation and communication. Essential apps include Google Maps, a translation app, and ride-hailing services.

Visa Information for Indonesia (Percut Sei Tuan)

For Philippine passport holders planning to visit Indonesia, including the Percut Sei Tuan region, visa requirements are generally straightforward. As of recent regulations, Filipino citizens are typically granted visa-free entry for short stays, usually up to 30 days, for tourism purposes. This allows for a convenient and hassle-free entry process, making it easier to plan your trip without the need for extensive visa applications beforehand. It is always advisable to confirm the latest visa policies with official sources before your travel dates.

The process for visa-free entry involves presenting your valid Philippine passport, which should have at least six months of validity remaining from your date of arrival in Indonesia. You may also be asked to show proof of onward travel, such as a return or onward flight ticket, and potentially proof of sufficient funds to cover your stay. While no visa fee is charged for this visa-free facility, any extensions or stays beyond the permitted duration will require adherence to specific immigration procedures and fees.

While visa-free entry is common for short tourist stays, it is crucial for all travellers to verify the most current visa regulations with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in the Philippines or the Directorate General of Immigration of Indonesia before booking flights. Immigration policies can change, and staying informed ensures a smooth entry into the country. Confirming your entry status well in advance is a recommended practice for all international travel.
