The airport is on Mactan Island in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. Bridges across the Mactan Channel connect it with Cebu City.
The city centre is roughly 13 to 15 km away. Travel time depends heavily on bridge traffic and can be close to an hour at busy times.
There are two. Terminal 1 serves domestic flights and Terminal 2 serves international flights.
Airlines at Cebu include Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Philippines AirAsia, along with a number of foreign carriers on international routes.
Yes. Terminal 2 handles international services to several cities in Asia, which makes Cebu a common entry point to the Visayas.
MyBus picks up outside both terminals and heads to SM City Cebu. Metered taxis and ride-hailing cars are also available for door-to-door trips.
The airport opened in 1966, replacing the older Lahug airfield inside Cebu City. Terminal 2 was added in 2018.
Confirm your terminal first, because domestic and international flights use separate buildings. Leave extra time for traffic on the bridges from Cebu City.
Mactan-Cebu International Airport, code CEB, is the main gateway to Cebu and the wider Central Visayas. It stands on Mactan Island in Lapu-Lapu City, just across the channel from Cebu City. It handles both domestic and international traffic and is a major hub for island-hopping trips across the country.
The airport opened in 1966, taking over from the old Lahug airfield in Cebu City. It is owned by the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority, while a private operator runs day-to-day operations.
Because it is on Mactan rather than the main island, you cross one of the bridges over the Mactan Channel to reach Cebu City. The centre is roughly 13 to 15 km away. The distance is short, but traffic on the bridges can turn a quick ride into an hour at peak times.
There are two passenger terminals. Terminal 1, opened in 1990, handles domestic flights. Terminal 2, opened in 2018, handles international flights and is known for its curved timber roof, which is meant to evoke Cebu's resorts. Both terminals offer food outlets, shops and waiting areas, and the airport now runs two parallel runways.
Cebu is a hub for Philippine Airlines, and Cebu Pacific and Philippines AirAsia also fly here in large numbers. Domestic routes spread across Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao, so Cebu works well as a connecting point between islands. International services link the city with several cities elsewhere in Asia.
Many travellers never leave Mactan, where resorts line the east coast and island-hopping boats head out to nearby reefs. In Cebu City, Magellan's Cross and the Basilica del Santo Niño sit close together in the old downtown. Further afield, the south of Cebu island is popular for waterfalls and diving.
Check which terminal your flight uses before you set off, since domestic and international flights leave from different buildings. Allow extra time for the bridge crossing if you are coming from Cebu City in the late afternoon.
