We had a three night stay to see the Blackpool Illuminations and it couldn't be better. A lovely old world hotel, beautiful public rooms and spacious bedroom and en=suite bathroom. The restaurant offers attractive well presented meals while the bar has smaller plates. Thoroughly recommend

Very disappointed with the overall experience. Was looking forward to it very much . But sadly the stay fell well below wgat we were expecting. Had booked early check in (+£20) but were kept waiting nearly half an hr to get checked in as only one receptionist on and doing it all by herself. Once we were allocated our room which we upgraded to a sea view (2×£20) we walked in to be met by unbelievably stiffling heat. The radiator was on full and no means to turn it down as the valve was broken . After complaining to a different receptionist we were eventually moved to the room next . All this dekayed neant we were now running late fir a prearranged event . We were not happy . The room we were moved to had exactly the same issue radiator full on broken valve . An absolutely ridiculous situation to be allowed to happen . This was never resolved while we were there . The quick fix was for the maintenance engineer to turn the radiator off and supply us wuth a portable plug in heater . The 2* were for an ok breakfast . But a big minus for the hotel is charging £10 a night parking . And as we had 2 cars that was an additional £40 . Which is an absolute rip off .

Disappointed as we were told there was a cabaret artist performing on Wednesday evening. It was also posted on the notice board near the lift. We found the show but were refused entry and told it was a private event which contradicted what the safe had told us

Room clean and everyone friendly Negative was heating in the room turned off because engineer decided it was too warm. Not his choice to make. Hence room cold until complained and heating switched back on after 30minutes. In Winter heating should be guaranteed. Not first time its happened.

Nice clean bedding/ towels. Staff are very helpful and go above and beyond to help you with your needs. Hotel,is always nice and warm in winter, though can be too much in the summer! Negative on my last visit was the shower, wasn’t wor,img properly and the hot sink tap pressure was temperamental. Otherwise normally no issue with bathroom. I just wish the gym would open up soon as it’s been a few years in the making!

Suite and sour, we were originally booked into a deluxe double room with a sea view, but were given the option of a two room suite with separate bathroom for £40 per night extra, which We took. Fantastic sized rooms, but with very tired and worn out furnishings. Frayed curtains and sofa and chairs which looked like wicker conservatory furniture which might well been purchased from a charity furniture shop. Most of the windows were draught taped with black duct tape in a rather rough manner. For a premium room in what claims to be four star accommodation I find that to be unacceptable. However, the bed was large and comfortable, the bathroom basic but with a good working shower (over the bath), and two wash basins. (Why two?). The rooms were very clean, and a basic but reasonably appointed hospitality tray was supplied. The food was good, I would say a talented chef working to a very tight budget, the desserts were particularly good. I noticed that since our last visit the offer of a dinner bread roll with the starter has ceased. (An indication of tough times perhaps?). The buffet breakfast was good, but let down by what looked like dried scrambled eggs and tinned mushrooms. The staff were on the whole very helpful and friendly. Overall I feel that this once grand and historical hotel has rather lost its way, and is in need of a much needed freshening up. I have stayed here 7 times now, and can feel it is not what it was when we first came to stay.
