Very worth the money. I came earlier than the check-in time and left my luggage to stroll around, and when I came back, my luggage was already put in my room. The staff at the check-in counter is very friendly and informative. The room is clean and has a Smart TV. So close to Bendemeer MRT and Lavender MRT, even Mustafa is just less than 10 minutes' walk. Might consider staying here again. Thank you!

A wonderful experience, close to restaurants and tourist attractions. From the lobby to the room, everything was in good condition. The towels were fresh and fragrant, the amenities were good, and the mattress and pillows were clean, especially the bidet. All the staff were very kind and easy to talk to, especially SHARAN! She provided excellent service and had an interesting character. Hopefully, they can continue to maintain the good quality and improve even further in the future!

I had a very pleasant stay at Hotel 81 Elegance. The service was truly satisfying, especially thanks to the receptionist, Samuel C.K., who was very helpful and welcoming. We arrived early at around 11 AM, and to our surprise, we were already allowed to check in without any additional charge. Not only that, but we were also given a room with a great view at no extra cost, which made our experience even more special. The room was clean and pleasantly fragrant. The water pressure in the bathroom was excellent—strong and consistent—and the hot water worked perfectly. Another great feature was the availability of drinking water directly from the tap, which was very convenient. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I would highly recommend this hotel for future visits. I would definitely stay here again.

More about hotels in Lavender

Your Complete Guide to Hotels in Lavender, Singapore

Lavender is a characterful neighbourhood in Singapore's Kallang district that has quietly become one of the city's best-kept staycation secrets. Sitting between the heritage-rich enclaves of Little India, Kampong Glam, and Jalan Besar, Lavender offers a uniquely authentic Singapore experience that is hard to find in more polished tourist districts. The area is named after Lavender Street, which in turn was named after the lavender plants once grown in the area to mask the scent of nearby cattle farms — a fascinating piece of local trivia. Today, Lavender has reinvented itself as a hip, eclectic neighbourhood brimming with independent cafes, street art, heritage shophouses, and some of the best local food in Singapore. Hotels here tend to be more affordable than in the downtown core, making Lavender an excellent choice for staycationers who want authentic experiences, great food, and genuine neighbourhood character at a price that leaves room for indulgence elsewhere.

Best Areas to Stay in Lavender

Near Lavender MRT Station

Staying close to Lavender MRT station on the East-West Line puts you in the middle of the neighbourhood's growing hospitality scene. Several modern boutique hotels have opened in this area in recent years, occupying converted shophouses and purpose-built properties alike. You are within easy reach of the famous Lavender Food Square and a short walk from Kampong Glam's Arab Street and Haji Lane. The station also provides direct MRT access to the CBD, Changi Airport, and Jurong East.

Jalan Besar Corridor

Jalan Besar, which borders Lavender, has emerged as one of Singapore's coolest streets. Lined with restored art deco shophouses, third-wave coffee roasters, craft beer bars, and innovative restaurants, this corridor attracts a creative, design-savvy crowd. Hotels along Jalan Besar tend to be stylish boutique properties with distinctive character, perfect for staycationers who appreciate thoughtful design and a vibrant neighbourhood atmosphere.

Kallang Riverside

The Kallang River side of Lavender offers a different perspective, with hotels that are slightly more removed from the bustle and closer to the waterfront. This area is ideal for joggers and fitness enthusiasts, as the Kallang Riverside Park and the Park Connector Network provide scenic routes for running and cycling. The nearby Singapore Sports Hub adds another dimension for sports fans looking to catch a live event during their staycation.

Top Hotels in Lavender

Boutique and Design Hotels

Lavender's hotel scene is defined by its boutique and design-led properties. Many of these hotels occupy beautifully restored heritage shophouses, blending original architectural details with contemporary interiors. These properties often feature curated art collections, locally sourced amenities, and personalised service that gives each stay a distinctive character. For staycationers who are tired of cookie-cutter chain hotels, Lavender's boutique offerings are a breath of fresh air.

Mid-Range Favourites

Mid-range hotels in Lavender punch above their weight, delivering stylish rooms, modern facilities, and excellent locations at prices that would be hard to find in Orchard Road or Marina Bay. Several properties in this category have earned strong guest reviews for their attentive service, comfortable beds, and generous breakfast spreads featuring local favourites.

Budget-Friendly Options

Lavender is a haven for budget staycationers. The neighbourhood hosts some of Singapore's best-reviewed hostels and budget hotels, many of which offer private rooms alongside dormitory options. These properties compensate for compact spaces with thoughtful touches such as rain showers, quality linens, and communal kitchens. The money you save on accommodation can be spent on Lavender's incredible food scene instead.

Best Time to Visit Lavender for a Staycation

Lavender is a great staycation destination throughout the year. The neighbourhood's charm is largely food and culture driven, so weather plays a smaller role than in beach or outdoor destinations. That said, the drier months of February to April are ideal if you plan to explore on foot, as Lavender and its surrounding neighbourhoods are best experienced by walking. Weekday stays offer significantly lower rates and a more authentic neighbourhood vibe, as you will be rubbing shoulders with locals rather than weekend crowds. Major cultural festivals in nearby Little India — such as Deepavali in October or November and Pongal in January — add colour and energy to the broader area. Ramadan bazaars in Kampong Glam, just a short walk away, bring a festive atmosphere during the Muslim holy month and are a wonderful addition to a Lavender staycation.

Getting to Lavender

Lavender MRT station on the East-West Line is the primary public transport hub for the neighbourhood. From Changi Airport, you can take the East-West Line directly to Lavender station in approximately 30 minutes without any transfers — one of the most convenient airport connections of any central neighbourhood. A taxi or private-hire car from the airport takes about 15 to 25 minutes depending on traffic. Jalan Besar MRT on the Downtown Line is also within walking distance, providing an alternative route to destinations along the Downtown Line. Several bus routes service the area via Lavender Street and Kallang Road. For drivers, the area is accessible via the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway and the East Coast Parkway.

Lavender sits right at the edge of Little India, giving staycationers easy access to one of Singapore's most colourful and sensory-rich districts. Explore the bustling Tekka Centre for incredible Indian food, browse the shops along Serangoon Road, and soak in the vibrant street life that makes Little India one of the most photographed neighbourhoods in the city.
