Kallang is a planning area and residential town located in the Central Region of Singapore. Toa Payoh borders it in the north, Geylang in the east, Marine Parade in the southeast, Marina East in the south, the Downtown Core in the southwest and Rochor and Newton in the west as well as Novena in the northwest.
Kallang had the longest river in Singapore, around 10 kilometres long and was home to several national landmarks including the old National Stadium and civil airport, the Kallang Airport. The former National Stadium has hosted 18 National Day Parades and sporting events.
Currently, Kallang houses the new National Stadium and the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The new National Stadium hosted the National Day Parade in 2016, while the Singapore Indoor Stadium frequently hosts world-class concerts and performances by renowned artists from around the world.
Kallang has the largest number of MRT stations which is a total of 12 stations. There are Kallang, Lavender, Little India, Farrer Park, Boon Keng, Nicoll Highway, Stadium, Mountbatten, Bendemeer and Geylang Bahru as well as another two are still under construction.
