Hakone Kowakien TEN-YU

The outside private onsen is really just big enough for one. The rooms are kind of small. Food is very good and drinks are available for all tastes. I am gold vip and was supposed to get a 5600 yen credit that never materialized. The room price included dinner but they listed credit separately. Apparently this is confusing English translation. I eventually got that the room prices include 5600 yen dinner. Not credit. They should probably clean up the deception in the promotion. Just put bundle price. Otherwise nice hotel and spa.

The Onsen is what we came for 10/10. The staff was polite and helpful. The dinner and breakfast buffet was great. Definitely coming back! Mahalo nui loa for the wonderful experience staying here. Mahalo Nui loa Hakone we miss you already!

Beautiful property

Very enjoyable experience. The staff was/is, overall, incredibly respectful/kind and the breakfast and dinner buffet, a better and cheaper option, was fantastic (with a large variety of options). The only issue with our stay is I have a shell fish allergy and made the mistake (my fault) of not informing the staff with enough lead time and the result was the fixed price dinner we paid a premium to enjoy, was not enjoyable as they could not substitute any ingredients, the server was visibly frustrated and made me feel embarrassed about my allergy, and the front desk after (our meal) suggested we eat at the buffet for our next evening meal, though they would not offer a refund for the difference. The Hakone area is beautiful and a nice break from Tokyo, Kyoto, etc. though the options for daily excursions are limited to the open air museum (really nice), a small museum, etc.

Our 2nd time staying here and we love the onsens here! The dinner buffet was delicious and so many food choices! The staff are friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the free ice cream and drinks and snacks that were offered everyday. Very convenient access to Yunnessan Waterpark. Lots of entertainment and kid friendly activities. We can't wait to come back again!

It is a very beautiful hotel. The room is beautiful and spacious. The bed is very clean and comfortable. We used both private and public onsen, it was a great experience. We also had kaiseki dinner which was also an amazing experience. The breakfast was wonderful with a lot of variety. Overall it was a great experience and we really enjoyed our stay.

The staff was super helpful and lovely. The building is beautiful with great views. Having dinner & breakfast included was very relaxing & the food was wonderful. And drinks included! The onsen was right down the hall. Again, so relaxing. The only thing I would have changed was not to take the bus from the station to the hotel. It was super crowded & uncomfortable. Spring for a taxi or Uber.

Wonderful place to stay with family. The onsen was spectacular, the food was amazing, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend.

Best hotel I’ve ever stayed at! Onsen with a waterfall views and incredible Japanese buffet dinner were the highlights

This was our favourite stay for our whole Japan trip. We stayed at 3 other hotels. This place and area is unbeatable and i wish I would’ve booked a second night. I didn’t know that I would want to live this day again. The staff were ridiculously kind and helpful. At the end of our stay, I asked which bus and where I should take to get to Hakone-Yumi to and she literally left her post and started running to help me catch the bus. My son enjoyed free ice cream from the vending machine (which he loved). The band in the lobby before dinner was such a nice touch. The dinner and breakfast were perfect. Honestly, just the perfect relaxing spot for us. Would go back for sure.

I couldn’t have asked for a better stay! We loved every minute of our stay at Ten yu. The staff were very accommodating and friendly, the room was excellent with all the amenities you didn’t even know you needed. We loved the onsen and especially the 6th floor one. What an experience! I also really loved all their shower products. My hair has never been so shiny and soft! Where can I buy them please?? The free ice cream and the biscuits were excellent provision. The breakfast and dinner at the Buffett were great with lots of choice but I would prefer if they had some different options every day. If you are trying to pack light, don’t worry about carrying make up remover, face wash, razors, hairbrush and even pyjamas or clothes! They provide you with everything including a kimono you can use to walk around property and even during dinner. My only slight issue was that I was supposed to have a food and drink credit which I asked for and they said that as I have dinner included they would provide it with dinner. Well the dinner already had drinks included and they offered us a glass of sparkling wine in addition. I would have preferred to have the choice to use my credit for the lounge to have some cocktails. Overall, extremely satisfied with our stay!
