My first time at this hotel. It's a luxury hotel, but they often have promotional prices. There's a swimming pool, gym, cool air conditioning, and friendly staff. The service is excellent. We asked the customer service at IG Hotel about charging our electric car, and the staff responded promptly. Thank you to the security team, especially the chief, Mr. Mus, who welcomed us with open arms. Five thumbs up. If you want to go to Blok M, you're just a short walk across the street, hehe.

Stayed at the Kempinski Hotel for Jakarta's 499th anniversary celebrations, making it easier to watch the artists. When booking, I chose a Deluxe room with a view of the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, but due to full capacity, I was given a more spacious Deluxe room. The room was clean, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I was satisfied with my stay. I'd love to stay here again sometime.

This was my first time staying in Jakarta, especially in the GBK area, which is right inside a mall. It was very impressive, as everything was easy to find, strategically located, and comfortable. Especially if you ask for a room with a city view, the view is truly breathtaking. I'm very satisfied with my stay here.

More about hotels in Jakarta

Hotels in Jakarta, Indonesia – Your Complete Guide to Staying in the Capital

Jakarta, the sprawling capital of Indonesia, is a city of incredible contrasts and boundless energy. From gleaming skyscrapers and luxury shopping malls to centuries-old colonial architecture and bustling street markets, Jakarta offers an experience that is both exhilarating and deeply cultural. For Singaporean travellers, Jakarta is one of the most accessible international destinations, with direct flights from Changi Airport taking just under two hours. Booking a hotel jakarta through Traveloka gives you access to thousands of properties across this massive metropolis, all at competitive prices displayed in SGD for your convenience.

Why Singaporeans Love Jakarta

Jakarta has long been a favourite weekend getaway and business destination for Singaporeans, and for good reason. The city offers exceptional value for money, with hotel rooms, dining, shopping, and entertainment all available at a fraction of Singapore prices. A luxurious five-star hotel in Jakarta’s prime business district can cost less than a mid-range hotel in Singapore, making it an attractive option for travellers who want to enjoy premium experiences without breaking the bank.

The city’s vibrant food scene is another major draw. Jakarta is a culinary paradise where you can sample dishes from across the Indonesian archipelago, from Padang rendang and Javanese gudeg to Manadonese spicy seafood and Betawi soto. The city’s restaurant scene ranges from humble warungs serving nasi goreng for a few thousand rupiah to world-class fine dining establishments helmed by internationally acclaimed chefs. For Singaporean food lovers, Jakarta represents an opportunity to explore flavours that are familiar yet distinctly different from what is available back home.

Top Neighbourhoods for Hotels in Jakarta

Jakarta is a vast city, and choosing the right neighbourhood for your hotel can significantly impact your travel experience. The Sudirman Central Business District, commonly known as SCBD, is the premier business and luxury hotel district. SCBD is home to Jakarta’s tallest skyscrapers, upscale shopping malls like Pacific Place and Plaza Senayan, and a thriving nightlife scene along the SCBD strip. Business travellers will find this area particularly convenient, as many multinational corporations and financial institutions are headquartered here.

Thamrin, the grand boulevard that runs through the heart of Jakarta, is another popular hotel district. The area around Bundaran HI, the iconic roundabout featuring the Selamat Datang monument, is lined with major hotels and shopping centres including Grand Indonesia, one of Southeast Asia’s largest malls. Staying in the Thamrin area puts you within walking distance of many key attractions and provides easy access to the TransJakarta bus rapid transit system.

For a more laid-back and bohemian atmosphere, the Kemang neighbourhood in South Jakarta is an excellent choice. Known for its expatriate community, Kemang is filled with trendy restaurants, art galleries, live music venues, and cosy boutique hotels. The area has a distinctly different vibe from the polished corporate districts, offering a more intimate and neighbourhood-centric experience that many repeat visitors to Jakarta prefer.

Menteng, one of Jakarta’s most prestigious residential neighbourhoods, offers tree-lined streets, colonial-era mansions, and a refined atmosphere. Hotels in Menteng tend to be boutique properties that blend historical charm with modern comforts, and the area is close to key cultural attractions including the National Museum and Monas.

Must-Visit Attractions in Jakarta

No visit to Jakarta is complete without seeing Monas, the National Monument. This 132-metre tower stands at the centre of Merdeka Square and symbolises Indonesia’s struggle for independence. Visitors can take a lift to the observation deck at the top for panoramic views of the city, and the base houses a historical museum with dramatic dioramas depicting key moments in Indonesian history. Merdeka Square itself is a vast public space that is perfect for an early morning stroll before the heat of the day sets in.

Kota Tua, or Old Town Jakarta, is the historic heart of the city and a must-visit for history and architecture enthusiasts. The area was once the centre of Dutch colonial power in the East Indies, and its cobblestoned Fatahillah Square is surrounded by beautifully preserved colonial buildings that now house museums, including the Jakarta History Museum, the Fine Art and Ceramic Museum, and the Wayang Museum. The area has undergone significant restoration in recent years and is now a popular destination for both locals and tourists, especially on weekends when street performers and food vendors create a festive atmosphere.

Grand Indonesia, located on Jalan Thamrin, is a shopping destination that rivals anything in Singapore. This massive mall complex spans two towers and multiple floors of international fashion brands, electronics, restaurants, and entertainment options. The mall regularly hosts art exhibitions, musical performances, and seasonal events that add cultural value to the shopping experience. For Singaporeans accustomed to Orchard Road, Grand Indonesia offers a comparable shopping experience at significantly lower price points.

Jakarta’s Culinary Scene

Jakarta’s food scene deserves special attention because it is truly one of the city’s greatest assets. The city is a melting pot of cuisines from across Indonesia’s 17,000 islands, and you can embark on a culinary journey through the entire archipelago without leaving Jakarta. Padang restaurants, recognisable by their distinctive pyramid-shaped rice displays, serve rich, coconut-based curries and the world-famous rendang. Javanese cuisine brings sweet and savoury flavours with dishes like nasi gudeg and ayam bakar. Manadonese food introduces fiery chilli-based dishes that challenge even the most seasoned spice lovers.

Street food culture thrives in Jakarta, and some of the best eating experiences happen at roadside stalls and night markets. Nasi goreng, satay, martabak, and bakso are ubiquitous street food staples that are both delicious and incredibly affordable. For a more upscale dining experience, Jakarta’s fine dining scene has exploded in recent years, with restaurants offering innovative interpretations of Indonesian cuisine alongside international gastronomic concepts.

Getting to Jakarta from Singapore

Jakarta is incredibly accessible from Singapore, with multiple direct flights departing daily from Changi Airport. The flight takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, making it entirely feasible for a weekend trip. Several airlines operate this route, offering competitive fares that can be booked through Traveloka alongside your hotel reservation for a seamless travel planning experience. Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta’s main airport, is connected to the city centre by the Airport Railink Service, which takes approximately 45 minutes to reach Sudirman station in the heart of the business district.
