The room was extremely comfortable and had all the amenities as stated. One thing I really liked was their smart TV, instead of just being able to surf the usual TV channels, I was able to connect my phone to the TV and play my own YouTube videos and shows from my phone, which I thought was quite cool. The hotel didn't feel congested or overcrowded at all despite the concierge informing us that they were almost fully booked that day, which was nice. They had a good breakfast spread-quite a variety of choices from oriental to american breakfast. Location was amazing as well! Right in the city centre-just right across the road from the MRT (City Hall) and near food places (Chijmes) and a mall (Raffles City), it was a breeze getting food and going to shop. Overall a 5/5 stay and would love to come back again!

The room is spacious, tidy and clean. Everything in the room is in good working order except the doorbell. The room maintenance lady is courteous, friendly and very efficient. I am amazed by her efficiency in changing bedsheets and tidying up the room and bathroom, all alone in less than 10 mins. We had breakfast included in room rates and it is definitely worthwhile as breakfast is sumptuous and portions are big at Trishaw Coffee House. There's a choice between Western & Asian menus and they served different items even if you choose the same menu every day. The service is wonderful! 3 lifts but only 2 were working. (Maybe the middle lift was closed to allow at least 1m social distancing for the other 2 working lifts. Haha. Just kidding). We didn't try out the swimming pool. The gym is small with equipment for cardio exercises. Only 2 people can be there at any one time with an access key from reception. Happy Joy Restaurant serves big portions. The promotions they offered are worth it and the food is delicious! We made full use of the free open-air parking. Lots of available parking lots. Velocity and United Square malls are within 5 min walk away. Novena MRT is right below Velocity, location is very good for shopping and eating. However, a few downsides: Checking in is a huge pain. We waited for 45 mins just to register for check-in even though we had paid in full online with printed out receipts to show. Seems like their computer system is slow. Each group that checked-in takes about 10 to 15 mins each. We were lucky that we were early and had 3 groups in front of us. On other days, we see the line snaked across the front lobby. 3 pm - 5 pm is peak queuing time! Apart from the doorbell not working, I found holes in a bedsheet. Quite a few holes. The bedsheet is totally white so if you just roll into bed to sleep, you probably won't notice. Not a big deal. Although the front desk said all rooms are non-smoking rooms but there was a very strong cigarette odour the moment I walked from the lift lobby to my room door. It lingered there. Didn't go away. I have to hold my breath when I exited my room and dashed to the lift lobby and did likewise when I went back to my room. The room is OK, no cigarette odour. I don't see anyone loitering at the corridor smoking. Not sure where the cigarette odour came from. Some bathroom wall tile grout is black. My boy complained that it's black mould on the first day and didn't want to take his bath. Took him some time to get used to it. The washbasin is way too low. I'm 1.74m and I have to kneel to use it so that my clothes don't get wet from the water splash. The TV screen has lines across the screen and the colour display is not good. However, there's Netflix and YouTube to watch on TV so that's good enough for me. Free wifi is not very stable. Have to wait out for the movie to load from time to time. Checking out is a breeze. 5 seconds. Just return access cards and we went off. Overall, it was a satisfying stay. Good value for money, good breakfast, good service.

Hi … Booked to celebrate a family member's birthday. Checked in on 3 Dec. Smooth check-in, well done for the front office team … given room 1501. Spacious for a family of 4. Surprised when the hotel team delivered a nicely decorated fruit platter as a birthday gesture. Impressed with their service. They may notice it during check-in as occupants' particulars need to be documented due to the pandemic. The housekeeping team is very friendly. On the 2nd day, the Swimming pool was very clean. We book for an hour as the pool area is limited to 12 pax per hour. Checked out on 5 Dec. Superfast, just need to drop a card in the checkout dropbox, and off we go … 👍 Thank you York Hotel, a weekend well spent! Served by the awesome team during our stay 🙏🏻.

Location is not in the middle of the redlight area, so its okay for staying with children. You can store luggage in the morning then back for check in in the afternoon. Close to the coin laundry, convenience store, and indian halal restaurant. Little bit far from MRT station, but can hit the bus instead from the near bus stop.

This hotel is perfect, super cool, and nice location. There was everything I needed for my stay, the staff gave extraordinary services when I spent my leisure time in Singapore. I think this place is perfect for a short or long stay. But perhaps the hotel can make a separate lift used by staff and guests for more convenience.

How to Get There

People travelling to Singapore will arrive at Changi International Airport, lauded as the world’s best airport. It is located at the eastern region of Singapore and is highly accessible via the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) or bus.

Riding the MRT and the bus is the cheapest way to go to the city centre. However, it may not be the most comfortable nor the fastest since there might be transfers involved when going to your accommodation. Furthermore, if you take the bus, travel time is approximately one hour and 30 minutes.

The fastest and most convenient way if you want to go directly to your hotel in Singapore would be to get an airport transfer or a taxi. Taxis are available 24 hours daily. Keep in mind that there are surcharges applicable when you are travelling during peak hours or late at night.

Getting Around in Singapore

Singapore has one of the most modern and efficient transport systems in Asia, if not the world. MRT serves routes to all major areas in Singapore. To get in and out of the stations, all tickets are activated through RFID (Radio Frequency Identification, a tracking device).

There are two kinds of smart cards eligible for MRT (and other public transportations in Singapore): EZ-link and NETS FlashPay. These cards can be recharged at all MRT stations. Take note that the MRT operates daily from 05:30 to midnight.

If you are taking the bus, make sure to pay the bus fare with either EZ-link or NETS FlashPay smart cards as they can be cheaper than cash. If you pay with cash, make sure to pay the exact amount (and not more) as the driver does not give change. Bus operates daily from 05:30 to midnight.

Taxi can be the perfect choice if you are traveling in three or need to go far from the Central Business District (CBD). However, it can be pricey. Around CBD, taxis park around shopping centres and other buildings located in Orchard, Bugis, City Hall, Chinatown and Raffles Place.

Things to Do in Singapore

Universal Studios

Singapore offers you several interesting tourist destinations whether you are someone who loves history, adventure, arts and culture, and food. Sentosa Island, Singapore’s most popular island resort is home to Universal Studios Singapore, Singapore Butterfly and Insect Kingdom, and Sentosa Golf Club to name a few. In Little India, you can visit several religious areas such as Temple of 1000 Lights, Veeramakaliamman temple, Angullia Mosque, the Central Sikh Gurdwara and many more. Apart from that, Little India is also popular for its culinary offered at Zhujiao Centre. A visit to Chinatown is a must if you’re buying souvenirs, shopping, or trying famous Singaporean cuisines at one of its hawker centres.

Singapore Botanic Garden

If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful area in Singapore, you can visit Swan Lake at Singapore Botanic Garden. This may also be a perfect area for jogging and other exercises.

Where to Stay in Singapore

Searching for the best Singapore hotel to book? Check out the various neighbourhoods downtown where you can stay depending on what you want to do most and your budget. If you’re looking for budget accommodations, you can stay in either Little India or Chinatown. Aside from their interesting attractions and heritage sites, it’s also a shopper’s paradise. You also won’t want to miss the culinary delights located in these areas.

Meanwhile, you can also choose the areas of Clarke Quay and Civic District where you’ll find trendy bars and restaurants.

Meanwhile, if you want to experience a different side of Singapore, you can stay at the West region. It covers areas such as Bukit Batok, Jurong East, Jurong West, Bukit Panjang, Benoi, Jurong Island and Boon Lay. This part of Singapore is known to be the largest and most developed region. Around the area, you can visit TV stations, educational institutions and the popular shopping center, West Mall.

Nightlife in Singapore

Singapore Travel Tips

  • Familiarize yourself with the dos and don'ts in Singapore. Known as the Fine City, there are many things that are not allowed in the country including feeding the pigeons, jaywalking, and littering.
  • When you enter or exit the bus stop, do not forget to tap your card/ticket onto the card reader located near the exit. The nominal in your card will automatically be charged based on your travel distance. If you forget to tap your ticket on the card reader, it will charge a higher fare.
  • Love the nightlife? Prepare to shell out some money since alcoholic beverages are pricey in Singapore.
