I didnt stsy at the hotel which I am very disappointed because I was looking forward.to some time away.from the place I am living. Due to having Fibromyalgia and peripheral neuropathy I was too fatigued and in too much pain to travel. I really needed this break but it was not to be. If I had had the right support from my GP and the people I live with then I wouldnt be in this state and having a miserable christmas and a up and coming miserable new year. Also, I am out of pocket because the hotel booking is non refundable unless they are willing to reinburse me under the circumstances.

I enjoyed the stay breakfast service was very poor 15 pounds for breakfast i only had 2 toast Service was too slow waited 20mons for cuppa tea Also eggs took over 20 mo s so didnt wait

The hotel is spotless and has a great history. It’s perfectly located right in the middle of the city centre, directly in front of the castle. We really enjoyed our stay and it will be our first and only choice next time.

No bar staff till requested and awful breakfast in room service. All burnt.

Hotel rooms were clean and spacious, a bit tired but totally fine. The hotel staff were fantastic- great service.

The staff are all great, but the lift was broken which made it a bit of a fuss trying to haul a baby and suitcases down the stairs. Thats the only reason why we deducted a star because it wasnt fixed for the 3 days we were there. Otherwise, really enjoyed the stay and would be back again!

First of all the lift was OOD. Although they offdered to take for me there was a huge queue and an overworked bloke who i couldnt add any pressure to, especially needing bag asap. Headboard fell down almost catching back kf my head, would of been more fuming if it was my child. Room was boiling hot, fan on winows open, then the noise. Yes its a city but a hotel of this status should have long term solutions. Beds were so uncomfortable my child asked to go home which is what we did at 1am. The room was outdated, window ropes broken. Heated towel rack not working, lights were a mission to even go for a wee at night as they all work dofferent things. Great to joke about but not at midnight. The list could go on. Fully expect a refund as im disappointed ive not been contacted since i stormed out the hotel last night when i requested i be called. I remained calm but sterm of my annoyance but to be ignored has really frustrated me. We had ambitions to come back and try your suites one day but since then plans have gone

Limited breakfast selection

Unbelievable that there was no lift working nor had been for several months apparently. No happy luggage up stairs. Disappointed!!

Staff looked after us well.

Upgraded to a deluxe twin room with a partial view of the castle on arrival which was a lovely surprise

Room a little tired, bathroom definitely needs upgrade. Very warm, no air con or temperature control. A nice hotel, however could do with some modernising.

Good choice for breakfast, room clean and comfortable. Only complaint is that the elevator was not working and although they had a porter to carry luggage for people in their 70s and 80s having to use the stairs was hard. Check in and service staff were very helpful and friendly

Room was clean but very dated, still good value for a no frills short stop. We'll be back in a few weeks.
