Hotel Haus am See Self Check-in

This is my 2nd time staying here. The first time was 2019. Overall, it is easy check in instructions, took bus from Hallstatt city with bus number 543 is easy. The balcony with lake view is perfect. Just that the room doesn't have washroom inside but there are shower room. Kind of weird but it's ok. The room is clean and the view is excellent. The reception man & women is friendly as she help me to take some photos coz I travel alone. The environment is good, can have a chill walk in the evening and it is not too noisy compared to Hallstatt city which I like this place. Just one disappointment that the hotel unable to issue me the tourist public transportation pass. He said he can only do it if I stay 3 nights, which I feel a bit unfair. Thus, I need to take bus which cost €2.80 each way to go Hallstatt city.

Clean room | Friendly Staff

Very nice place in an amazing location right on the lake, where the boats to Hallstatt dock. Also reachable by the public bus which I used twice, the bus can also bring you to the cable car for five fingers, etc. Self checkin instructions were clear and easy. Would recommend!

The room was clean and was a 5 minute bus ride away from Hallstatt. Our room had the view of the lake and mountains.

We were in a lake view room. The views are beautiful!!! The lake frontage is the pillar of this establishment. The self checkin process was super simple and made easy by the communication sent by the staff. The room, while basic had a newly renovated bathroom which beat our expectations. We loved our stay

The area was peaceful and quiet, has easy access to Hallstatt while being away from the crowds. The room was also clean and has a beautiful view.

We booked this property for the location, despite it being somewhat between an average hotel and a hostel. Normally that would have been good for us, but circumstances definitely affected our stay. Not just that circumstances existed, but the property provided zero advance notice regarding them (despite sending us at least two messages prior to our arrival, these issues were not mentioned). The first was construction on the train line that affected our ability to get to Obertaun, but more importantly, the lack of train service resulted in the cancellation of the ferry service to get over to Halstatt (the ferry station was close to the hotel). Secondly, there was a half marathon running around the lake the morning of our checkout so all transportation to and from Halstatt and leaving the area was unavailable from mid-morning to mid-afternoon. Had we been advised of this in advance, we probably would have revised our travel to Halstatt to another day. Finally, F&B were limited & expensive — a VERY small coffee was 5 euros. The restaurant next door had much more reasonable prices and very good food, but they did not open until 10:30 Sunday morning. In summary, some basic communication would likely have made this a 5 rating stay, but instead it was disappointing. That being said, we are glad we came to Obertaun and Halstatt — the area is beautiful.

Check in not user friendly as had to have internet on to get code number from message on Hotels.com App to open key box. I did not see it until help from another person checking in. No tea/coffee facilities. Used alternative locations . Given that host is only available during breakfast hours (7.30 to 9.30) I Felt host could have notified incoming guests that ferry to Hallstatt was not running. This information could be left in room along with alternative Transport viability - bus/train. There is an Information Centre but quite a walk from hotel. As a solo female guest I felt an information brochure/folder in room is a necessity. Location great, near the train station. I will not book again.

Recomiendo las habitaciones con vistas al lago, tienen la terracita y son increíbles. La habitacion es como aparece en las fotos, relativamente pequeña pero limpia. El personal estuvo atento a la llegada mediante sus indicaciones por mensajes ya que era autocheck-in.

the mountain view was amazing and checkin was straightforward. would be nice to have an extra pillow though :)

The room is clean. The staff are friendly. Mr. Franz Josef always have a smile to greet us every morning. We skipped breakfast, not an early riser. We usually do brunch or early lunch. We arrived by train. There's ample parking spots if you have a car. We liked the place and will come back with family next time.

The hotel's location and the cleanliness of the rooms were really great. We stayed for one night. Getting to the city center by public transport was quite easy from the hotel, and it's very close to the train station. My only negative feedback is that they charged an extra fee to leave luggage at the hotel. I've never encountered such a practice before. This wasn't even mentioned in the hotel's description.
