DoubleTree by Hilton Harrogate Majestic Hotel and Spa

Arrived at hotel to be given a room number 368 that didn’t exist, not a good start after a long journey. Booked in for dinner at hotel restaurant, service was okay but food was disappointing in terms of quantity and not prepared as described by the menu. When this was pointed out to the staff we were told that the menu was changing next week and so this shouldn’t happen again, not good. Our room was very warm, there was no heating on, but when we opened the window to let in some cooler air we realised we were close to the kitchen extract fan pumping out a greasy and unpleasant smell. Overall very disappointing as we use Hilton Double Tree hotels regularly and this particular hotel was not up to the expected standard I’m afraid.

Spa was good but very busy. Breakfast was excellent and location wasn’t too bad. Unfortunately there was a gypsy wedding in the hotel during our stay and it was very noisy and there were fights in the bar. Room was good though. Large size and had everything we needed.

The stay was average, it was £141.00 on a Monday night for a very small room without breakfast. The person who checked me in was nice, they gave me complimentary cookie which is a nice touch. I asked if there was a robe in the room and they spoke to the person next to her on reception and said not with the room you booked I could have got one for £10 however it was non refundable. The spa was really nice the highlight of the hotel. The hotel itself looks tatty on the outside, it’s ok on the inside nothing as spectacular as the photos look. The rooms themselves were very average. Worn down, cracks and stains. And if someone is in the corridor it’s extremely loud. Someone was on the phone speaking loudly in the other room and could hear everything they were saying plus the person on the phone so there is no soundproofing at all. It was ok for one night stay but not worth the rate I paid. On check out the person that was stood next to the nice lady that checked me in was there. When I checked out she didn’t ask me how my stay was just asked me what my room number was and have a good day, think there could be lots of improvements made to this hotel. Breakfast was delicious. The jacuzzi was a treat.

A great place to stay all staff are very helpful, rooms clean a bit worn & chipped furniture . But comfy bed & pillow, great bathroom , food fabulous , handy to walk into town center. A straight line once on main road round corner. Highly recommend

Just felt like they were trying to screw every penny out of me from the extortionate parking price for overnight parking to paying for water in my room. The woman in the restaurant at night wouldn't know customer service if it slapped her in the face.vote with feet won't stay again !

The hotel itself was lovely however visitors should be aware the parking was an issue. Spaces hard to find, tight spaces and expensive

Our 2 day stay at the hotel was good .was very clean and staff very nice . We didn't eat there so can't comment on food it's in a great location everything within walking distance . The only downside was having to pay £36 for 2 nights parking within the hotel grounds A paying customer shouldn't be billed for this and I only found out about this the day before we arrived .

Great hotel

At check in last Friday I explained that I had managed to park in the last disabled bay as 2 other vehicles parked there without blue badges. The receptionist just smiled and directed me to the machine to pay for parking. I was surprised at this but paid £54 on my credit card. A little while later I returned to reception to ask for a map of Harrogate and mentioned to the receptionist ( a different girl) that I had to pay to park despite having a blue badge whereupon she told me that I didn’t have to pay ! Furthermore she couldn’t do anything about it as it’s a private company and suggested that I send them an email. I immediately did this but have heard nothing since . Completely unsatisfactory. Incidentally if you’re paying to stay at the hotel I really don’t think that you should be paying at all.

A nice looking hotel but rough around the edges. Only 1 very small, incredibly slow, lift which doesnt cover all floors. This was impossible to use at busy times. The room was super hot, even with both windows open and radiator off. The fan didnt do much except alleviate the stuffiness. The spa was nice, but the lockers are stress inducing so you definitely need the spa experience to help you relax after fighting with them. The bathrooms were 100% designed by men haha I liked the free cookie when we checked in though.

The room was nice but I have never experienced queues quite like it. Huge queue on check in, 20 mins wait. Huge breakfast queue. The car park is ridiculous, very tight spaces which do not accommodate modern cars, it was chaos.

Well- located, large hotel close to town centre. Room was nice, as was bathroom. Lots of people and popular Spa.

Unfortunately there were no available connecting rooms requested despite requesting it before our arrival and also arriving early and not checking in till later in the day. Although we appreciate it is an old building, we were disappointed that it is not very clean as the carpets in the hallway or the rooms did not look vacuumed. When we moved the sofa chairs in the room, we were really disappointed to see the amount of dust at the back of the refrigerator. The dust can also be seen on the remote control of the TV.

Nice and good value

Food was the best I've tasted in a long time, buffet breakfast was amazing. So much choice and all completely fresh. Staff were superb, couldn't do enough and went above and beyond. Hotel was gorgeous, unfortunately though we never got a chance to go in the pool or spa. Room was nice, nothing special. Downside to the room for us was the bed. It was a very firm mattress so just too hard for us, we didnt sleep great the 3 nights we stayed. However despite the bed we will 100% stay here again just the the fact everything else was amazing.

We didn’t use the spa, the rooms were huge and lovely , the staff were all very pleasant & attentive. Breakfast was absolutely beautiful! Stunning foyer & grounds. Other reviews say it’s dated , we agree that some parts are but it certainly won’t affect your stay

Clean functional room, window locks very old. Comfy bed, pillows way too soft though. Staff professional. Fish n chips very nice. Cookie on arrival was a nice touch
