The staff were very helpful & friendly, & I even got upgraded to a wonderful double room. The room was clean, spacious & well appointed, including a fan which was hugely welcome on a hot day. The bed was comfortable & it was nice to have a relaxing soak in the large bathtub. Breakfast was good, with an assortment of cooked items (hash browns, bacon, etc.) & cold items (muesli, yoghurts, etc.), as well as a selection of hot & cold drinks. I was delighted with my stay & would definitely recommend The Angel Hotel.

We arrived and were booked in promptly. Room was lovely and clean. There was a window slightly open which was welcome and a fan that worked as well.. A little concerned at first as we could see work being carried out on the road just below our bedroom window but thankfully they didn’t do any so it was quiet. Breakfast was very good. Beds clean and comfortable. It’s an old building and dated as to be expected. Impressed with the chandeliers Would stay again. Very reasonable price.

It was a pleasure to stay in the hotel again. The staff in particular were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were comfortable albeit rather warm. Blame the weather for this. Hope to come again soon.

No air conditioning and I asked for a fan but they didn’t have one. Room was tired and in need of makeover. Had a very poor nights sleep due to the temperature

Disappointing, uncomfortable and badly maintained The hotel is clearly in need of refurbishment. The carpets were stained, the bath panel was rotten, and the room felt tired and poorly maintained. The bed was only a small double and was very uncomfortable, while the pillows were extremely hard. Housekeeping also woke us at around 8:45 a.m. on both mornings, even though we were staying for two nights and did not need to check out until 11 a.m. This made it impossible to relax or have a proper lie-in. The only positive thing I can honestly say is that the fan worked well. Overall, it was an uncomfortable and disappointing stay, and I would not choose to stay here again.

Loved absolutely everything about the Angel…and Joey at the desk!!!!

Clean and adequate for our nights stay breakfast was a bit disappointing as bacon and eggs were quite hard like they had been cooked awhile and we were there at start of service. Everything else staff amenities were spot on and would stay again.

Good location and room was clean, but in dire need of a refurbishment. No aircon in the bedrooms, but even with the fans provided the heat made the night unpleasant in the bedroom.

Very tired hotel, well past its best.

This hotel was obviously quite grand in the past. It now looks a bit tired. No air conditioning - only a fan in the room. Very thick, hard pillows with no possibility to change. The staff were as helpful as they could be.

The hotel is fine. It’s an older building so I wasn’t expecting everything to be perfect. For example there’s no electric outlets next to the bed. There was no AC but there was a decent sized fan. The room was clean. My biggest gripe was the fire alarm going off repeatedly from 2am - 3am.

I arrived by train from London and the walk was very short from the GWR Station. The hotel is directly across from the Castle and the Stadium so ask for the Castle view. Note: one of the smallest lifts I have ever seen, it was cute and glad to have it. I stayed on the 3rd floor facing the Castle. The room is small and old but had everything I needed. The shower was hot with a brisk shower head, atV and plenty of room to unpack and hang my clothing. Bath had plenty of toiletries and towels. The bed was comfy and had 4 nice sized pillows which I like. On arrival I did arrive very early and the room was not ready which was to be expected. The staff was very friendly and offered a water and gkady took all my luggage to hold and made a suggestion to see the Castle as this was the perfect time. Literally you walk across the street and there is the entrance. On check in I was pleasantly greeted and breakfast was explained. They allowed me to take a look as I am a fussy eater. As I would only eat some fruit and hard boiled eggs they graciously allowed me to only pay 3 pounds. I ate dinner there the first night in the bar. Clean, quick, good food and great atmosphere. Please note, no ac but I was there in April and it wasn't needed. Summer will be much different. They did have a fan. The only issue was the windows. They are filthy and that ruins the view of the Castle. They need to clean them because that Castle view is everyt!
